Australia Awards Scholarships in the


Philippines
Australias international development
assistance in the Philippines helps
promote prosperity, reduce poverty, and
enhance political stability.
Australia Awards Scholarships are
prestigious international awards offered by
the Australian Government to the next
generation of global leaders for
development. Through study and research,
recipients develop the skills and
knowledge to drive change and help build
enduring people-to-people links with
Australia.
Applicants will be assessed for their
professional and personal qualities,
academic competence and, most
importantly, their potential to impact on
development challenges in the Philippines.
Applications are strongly encouraged from
women, people with disability and other
marginalised groups.

Level of study
The Australia Awards Scholarships provide
citizens of the Philippines with the
opportunity to obtain a Masters Degree at
an Australian tertiary institution.

Priority fields of study


Basic Education

Australia Awards Scholarships are offered for the minimum


period necessary for the individual to complete the
academic program specified by the Australian education
institution, including any preparatory training.

Social Protection/Welfare

Scholarship recipients will generally receive the following:

The priority areas of study for the Philippines are:

Public Financial Management
Disaster Risk Reduction and Management
Organisation Development/Human Resource
Management and Development
Trade and Local Economic Development
Foreign Relations

Awards will be offered for commencement in 2016 within


the following allocations:
Targeted Category approximately 70 per cent of
awards are for partner organisations (government/nongovernment/private) with mandates that support mutual
priorities of Australia and the Philippines as reflected in
the Statement of Commitment. The Facility Board of
the Philippines Australia Human Resource and
Organisational Development Facility (PAHRODF)
determines the partner organisations.
Open Category approximately 30 per cent of awards
are for individuals in the public and private sectors who
intend to pursue graduate studies in the identified
priority areas of study.

Special conditions
Applicants are also required to submit
Re-Entry Action Plans (REAPs) prior
to departure to Australia, and
implement these in their

upon return.
The REAP outlines how the newly acquired
knowledge and skills will be used to contribute to
development in the Philippines.

The PAHRODF monitors and


evaluates the implementation of
REAPs and uses it as one of the
metrics in assessing the effectiveness
of the scholarship program.

Certificate of no scholarship obligation

Letter from the head of the agency endorsing the


scholarship application

Certificate of no pending case signed by the


Human Resource Manager (or relevant officer)
Clearance from the Office of the Ombudsman
certifying that the applicant has no pending
criminal and/or administrative case.

The selection process

Applications will be shortlisted after eligibility


checking.

Only short-listed candidates will be contacted for


interview.

The selection process includes an interview, and


applicants will be assessed against the following
criteria:
