Dear Ms. Shaw,
Please accept the enclosed resume and my application for a Primary/Junior teaching position with
the Toronto District School Board (TDSB). I bring a solid foundation of knowledge in human
development, value for strong partnerships and collaboration, and passion in digital technology
integration to the classroom, I am confident that my positive management techniques and my
commitment to the success of each and every student, with the belief that every learner can and
be successful, will be assets to your schoo! district. I will be graduating this year with a Master of
Teaching degree from the University of Toronto, in addition to already receiving my Bachelor of
Arts in Early Childhood Studies.
My goal is to give children the opportunity to grow, leam, and express themselves in a safe and
equitable environment. I believe in a student-centred approach to teaching and learning; working,
to ensure my students feel that they are seen, heard, and valued. I share TDSB’s commitment 10
enable all students to reach high levels of achievement and to acquire the knowledge, skills, and
values they need to become responsible members of society. I believe in teaching to empower
students, to help them recognize and develop their skills and talents to be successful through an
inclusive curriculum. My fluency in Mandarin allows me to bridge communication gaps, making
transitions into the school system easier for English Language Learners’ and their families. Through
direct engagements during parent-teacher interviews, newsletters, and one-to-one conferencing, I
build strong relationships with families and establish a culture of openness and trust.
Through the integration of information and communications technology (ICT) in our 2Ist
century classrooms, my aim is to help students become digital citizens by making their learning
relevant, all the while fostering their curiosity and eagerness to be active participants in their own
learning. I have successfully integrated SMARTboards and iPads in my lessons as important tools to
differentiate instruction for all learners. | will continue to learn and integrate STEM education into
my teaching, allowing students to explore subjects at a greater depth and help students develop
critical thinking skills. 1 am committed to being a role mode! for students by valuing and promoting
an active and healthy lifestyle. I enjoy taking initiative in the school and will continue to coach
sports, organize and lead other extracurricular activities, participate in school wide events, and
facilitate activities to support students’ mental health and well-being.
