Arts & Crafts Puzzles/Manipulatives 2. Record brief, nonjudgmental notes describing what the child is doing and/or saying: The child made a pretend telephone out of construction paper and was pretending to be at a pay phone. (S/E) She was playing at the paint easel. (Fine) The child then started making head bands for her and some of her classmates. (Fine) Child then cleaned up scrap paper and put scissors back in their place. (Gross/Fine) Child went over to the puzzle shelf and sat down doing puzzles. (Cog/Fine) 3. Note significant interactions between the teacher(s)/adult(s) and the child: When child needed assistance with the puzzle the teacher sat beside her and walked her step by step. (Cog) 4. Note significant interactions between the child and other children: Child mostly played alone except when she made the head bands for a few of the children. (S/E) Anecdotal Record Reflective Analysis 1. What did I learn about the childs development from todays observation? N was able to use imagination to play certain games. N was using fine motor skills at arts & crafts time to make headbands and a pretend phone.
N used her cognitive development to put puzzles together
with little assistance from the teacher. N used fine/gross motor to clean up when she was finished with activities.
2. What should I focus on the next time I observe this child?
I would like to focus on how N uses language with other children. I would also like to focus on how she interacts with other children. 3. What questions do I have regarding the childs development and learning? Have child draw a picture for me. Ask teacher about her interactions with other children. Ask child questions about what interests her.
