Referral: Ms. P, A.M.s teacher, referred A.M. for a speech evaluation as his articulation
errors are affecting his writing and spelling.
Developmental/Educational history:
Educational impact of the communication pattern on the students performance in
the classroom: Ms. P observes that A.M.s speech contains frequent articulation errors
when speaking, reading aloud, and writing in the classroom.
Standardized test(s) administered:
The Photo Articulation Test-3 was administered to assess A.M.s articulation skills. A.M.
exhibited a /t/ for the voiceless th in the initial, medial, and final position of words. He
also presented with a /d/ for the voiced th in the initial, medial and final position of
words. At the conversational level these errors were also noted.
Summary: Analysis of the test results indicates that A.M.s responses and his
spontaneous speech demonstrate articulation errors.
