INDUSTRIAL REVOLUTION

Historical Developments:
1. Assembly line production and mass production led to the creation of worker
towns and industrial towns.
2. Invention of automobile and steam engine led to the construction of train stations
and highways and freeways.
3. Invention of communication provided for a faster way of life.
4. Cities became high-density areas and were plagued with epidemics and pollution.
This led to the building of more hospitals and sanitariums and urban parks (as
breathable spaces).

Arts and Crafts Movement (alliance of factories and artisans) started Art
Nouveau characterized by organic and dynamic forms, curving elements
and whiplash lines.
