Kelvin Doe
The Story of a Genius
Kelvin Doe is now a 19 year

himself to become an

old engineer from Sierra

engineer, were he used his

Leone. When he was just the

skills to help his community.

age of 15 he self-taught

When he was just 13, he had a dream to become and

engineer. So he worked hard and studied on himself
to teach himself all the skills of this very difficult job.
He worked for 2 years on achieving his goal and
when he did he used his skills for good. Where he

lived in Sierra Leone, they got electricity once a month. Other than that, it was dark
everywhere. Kelvin worked hard on creating a generator which helped give his
community electricity. For this generator he used it all out of recycled materials such
as scrap metal and aluminum. He built it right in the heart of his town so he made
sure that everyone got this electricity. His community was very appreciative of his
work. Also, Kelvin wanted more entertainment in his co mmunity. Kelvin decided to
make a radio station with a satellite and everythin g. He became the host of this
station and ran the whole thing by himself. For a 15 year old kid, this is very
impressive. No way would I be thinking of making a generator and a r adio station for
my community, but Kelvin had the determination to do so. His story captivated a ivy
league school in MIT. MIT has the lowest acceptance rate in the U.S and is a very
prestigious school. MIT got in touch with Kelvin and offered him a full S cholarship
to this school where Kelvin could learn so much more about engineering. This must
have been and dream come true for him as he can bring his knowledge and skills
back to Sierra Leone and help his community even more. Kelvin is the youngest
member to ever attend MIT which makes him a massive story in our world today.
Kelvin was a massive inspiration to so many and he inspired me to keep determined
and follow my dreams.
