Poison Gas

Technology of
Modern
Warfare
By: Justin Koenig

Poisonous gas was first

introduced in World War I by
the Germans. It was created in
order to knockout or kill enemy
troops, allowing for the users
force to overtake their trenches.

Automatic Machine Gun

The automatic machine gun

was used by the Germans. It
was able to shoot 400-600
bullets per minute. This
stopped traditional warfare
raids as it mowed down
infantry lines.

Used by both sides (though

the Germans used it more),
the zeppelin was an airship
used to bomb cites and
points of interest. This
aircraft started bombing
raids, as there was now
access to aerial assaults .
The bombing was
impractical, as it was not
refined. Since it was big, it
put a lot of fear in the minds
of the people.

Convoys

The U-boat was the most

important naval weapon
used by the Germans. It
was far more advanced
than any other U-boats. It
could carry 35 men and
12 torpedoes and stay
underwater for 2 hours.
The U-boat would prey on
unsuspecting ally ships,
destroying them. This
advanced naval warfare to
a whole new scale.

The Airplane was probably

the most important piece
of technology during the
World War. It
revolutionized combat.
These planes were
equipped with weapons,
designed to destroy
enemy forces. It was
used on both sides of the
war.

Convoys were groups of

ships used by the allies.
They were quite slow, and
countered by the German
U-boat. The US joined
the war because their
merchant convoys kept
getting destroyed.
