civilizations German department has organized an academic seminar titled (translation role in the convergence of civilizations) on Tuesday 5th of April 2016. The seminar was attended by the Dean of the college Prof. Dr. Munthir Manhal Mohammed. The seminar was chaired by the department head Assist. Prof. Dr. Najat Isah Hasan with the participation of the department faculty namely, Prof.Dr. Muwaffaq M. Almuslih, Instr. Bahaa M. Alwan, Instr. Maisoun A. Irzouqi, and Instr. Ruqayah Mahmoud The paper presented by Dr. Najat dealt with samples of translation as a means of expression and dialogue with the other explaining the various means used by the translator in order to express the other. Dr. Muwaffaqs paper, on the other hand, dealt with some simultaneous interpretation exercises, whereas Mahmouds paper focused on the translation proverbs in German and Arabic describing types of these translations. Instruct. Maisouns paper dealt with deletion phenomenon in both Arabic and German, whereas Instr. Ruqayahs paper dealt with texts functions, types, and their impact on translation.
