Note: Critical Thinking Components are to be addressed during the NSO-SB group oral presentations (this
is the presentation that will be prepared at NSO-SB).

1. Identify and explain the main thesis, argument, or claim in the scholarly
work under review.

2. Identify the context in which the article was written.

3. Identify the article's assumptions or premises about theory and methodology.

4. Evaluate these assumptions in the light of your own values, assumptions, and
possible biases.

5. Identify the structure of the argument (e.g., premises, conclusions, qualifiers,

counterarguments).

6. Organize and weigh the evidence relevant to the claim or argument.

7. Draw logical, sound conclusions from this critical analysis, considering the
quality and quantity of the evidence and the logic inherent in the claim.

8. Evaluate these conclusions in the light of your stated values, and implicit
assumptions, and possible biases.
