Professor J. Thomas

COMPETENCY 7
Assess individuals, families, groups,
organizations, and communities.

COMPETENCY 7.1
Collect and organize data, and apply critical
thinking to interpret information from the
clients and constituencies.
As students talk, I observe and write down
information that can help me form an
assessment on them and understand their
logic of thinking.

COMPETENCY 7.2
Apply knowledge of human behavior and the
social environment, person-in-environment,
and other multidisciplinary theoretical
frameworks in interventions with clients and
constituencies.
After forming an assessment and explaining a
human behavior theory to them, I invite the
parents into the next meeting and we all
come up with a plan to help with the
students achievement.

COMPETENCY 7.3
Develop mutually agreed-on intervention goals
and objectives based on the critical
assessment of strength needs, and
challenges within clients and constituencies.
Based on the students strength and
weakness, we came up with an intervention
goals that could help achieve better success
when it comes him being able to take tests
the way he needs to, so he can achieve
higher grades. This whole semester, he keeps
a notebook of his test grades and comes to
show me after each test what he made to

COMPETENCY 7.4
Select appropriate intervention strategies based
on the assessment, research knowledge, and
values preferences of clients and
constituencies.
Before applying this interventions, first, I had
to go over them with my field supervisor to
make sure it was acceptable with her and ask
his teachers if they would be fine with this
intervention.
