Chaos in the Capitol

Yesterday, March 8, 1917, chaos broke out in the
streets of St. Petersburg, Russia. Women rioting in
the streets, demanding more food, saying that all the
good workers that provided money and food have
been drafted in to the war, and now the people are
starving. Today, men and children have joined the
women, and have broken in to bakeries for bread to
eat. The army sent a pair of squadrons to try to calm
down the revolutionaries, but it only resulted in the
death of 20 citizens and a squadron captain. We can
only hope that it doesnt turn into a full-on revolution.

Getting into the Minds of the Revolutionaries

In an interview with one of the women responsible for starting the protests, she angrily talked about how
my children are starving, cold, and thirsty. We all are, but it doesnt seem like the Tsar noticed, so we
decided to tell him ourselves, and the only way to do that is to make a scene big enough for the Tsar to
be told. She also talked about how her husband was forced to abandon their starving family, because he
was drafted into the war. We interviewed many families and women, but the initial response was the
same: its all the Tsars fault.
