JEFFERSON - A 53-year-old man who suffered serious burns and smoke inhalation during a fire five
weeks ago in his rented bungalow on Henry Street has
been discharged from the Burn Center at St. Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston.
Hospital spokeswoman Samantha Anton said
Thursday that David Nuetzel was discharged last
week. Nuetzels neighbor, Susan Tate, said she was
driving a day or two ago past the bungalow and saw a
man with bandaged hands who she believed was Nuetzel. There was another man with him, and they were
standing outside the burned house, which has been
boarded up, she said.
Im glad hes OK, she said, but added that she
hasnt had a chance to speak to him and doesnt know
where he will live.
For about a week after the March 3 fire, Nuetzel
was listed in critical but stable condition but ultimately improved so he could be discharged.
Township Deputy Police Chief Eric Wilsusen has
said that Nuetzel was flown to St. Barnabas by medical helicopter from his home in the Nolans Point secSee FIRE, Page 2A

A Hopatcong woman who was sued by her exspouse just before Christmas because shes been writing bum, loser, and other alleged insults on the memo line of her $186 weekly alimony payments to him is
fighting back by asking a judge to dismiss the lawsuit
as frivolous.
Diane Wagner, a 57-year-old woman who was sued
for harassment and infliction of emotional distress by
her former spouse of 10 years, Francis J. Wagner Jr.,
61, has filed an answer to the lawsuit in Superior Court,
Morristown, that denies the memo notes were offensive and seeks dismissal of the complaint.
This defendant admits to writing some notes in the
memo section but deny plaintiffs characterization of
those messages, attorney Erik A. Hassing wrote in his
answer to Francis Wagners lawsuit, filed by attorney
Gregg D. Trautmann.
The answer denies allegations of harassment and
infliction of emotional distress, asks that the lawsuit be
dismissed due to its frivolous nature, and also states
that Francis Wagners claims are barred by the Doctrine of Unclean Hands. The doctrine is a legal equitable principle under which relief is denied to a party
who is guilty him- or herself of inequitable conduct.
I think the lawsuit is, frankly, a case of an ex-husband behaving in a vindictive way. Its an abuse of the
system, Hassing said.
No court dates have been scheduled over the lawsuit, and both sides will start exchanging discovery, he
said.
In an interview with the Daily Record in December,
Diane Wagner said she is ill with cancer and endured a
