Biotic and Abiotic

interaction

Biotic and Abiotic factors in an

environment interact with each
other to create a balanced
ecosystem.

Tundra
During

the summer some of the topsoil thaws

creating pools, lakes, and marshes.

This

creates the perfect breeding ground for

mosquitoes, midges, and blackflies.

The

tundra provides a safe feeding ground so over

100 species of birds migrate there to feed.

Rainforest

Because the canopy is so thick, the forest floor only

receives about 2% of sunlight.

The heavy rainfall also washes the nutrients in the soil

away.

In order for the trees to grow they have adapted to rely on

lateral root systems instead of deep tap roots.
This

allows for an increased surface area and more

absorption to make up for the loss in nutrients.
