The document outlines the process and topics covered during parent-teacher conferences for a 5th/6th grade combination class. Conferences in the first trimester involve setting student goals and reviewing classroom policies. In the second trimester, students reflect on goals from the previous trimester and set new goals. Conferences remain student-focused, with students attending in upper grades to participate in discussions about their progress and improvement areas. Teachers bring evidence to support any classroom concerns to help parents fully understand issues.

Students write goals every trimester. In the first meeting, the
goals are gone over to see if they are appropriate for the child in parents perspective. The teacher shares the classroom policies and procedures. They are also shown how to check grades and log into remind- a tool the teacher uses to communicate with the parents on a daily basis. In the second trimester they reflect on their old goals from the first trimester to see if they were met or not, and review new trimester goals for the next up coming trimester. Conferences should always be kept student focused. In the upper grades students should be at the meetings. They need to know what is being discussed about them and how they can improve if need be. Always have evidence to support any classroom concerns so the parents can see your concern and fully understand it.
