TRANSFER ORIENTATION September 3rd at 6pm (Please

be there about 5:15 to help with set up)

You are the first impression most of these students and
parents will have of Godwins student body. Take this
responsibility seriously, please.
The students may be given their schedules; you will give
them a map of the school. (Ill get you these.)
Ms. Armbruster will be running most of transfer
orientation in the library. You are there to lead a tour,
assist her during the presentation if needed and answer
any questions the students/parents may have.
COVER THIS INFO AS YOU LEAD YOUR GROUP ON A TOUR:
1. Introduce yourselves and try to make these kids feel
comfortable. Transferring to Godwin was probably NOT
their idea, so accent the positive! Tell them
something about your activities.
2. Try to help everyone find his/her homeroom if they have
their schedule. Make certain that they know this is the
room they will report to on Fee Day, and on Tuesday
September 7th for homeroom.
3. Explain that everyone reports to his/her fourth period class
on the first day. The teacher will announce to the class
which lunch period is theirs. You may also want to explain
the lunch study schedule.
4. Tell them to listen to the announcements after the moment
of silence. This will let them know about upcoming
meetings, events and games. Tell them about the class
and club bulletin boards and make sure you show them
where the class boards are located.

5. Let them know that back packs may come to class with
you at Godwin.
6. Tell them about the availability of supplies in the Commons
Cave. There is a sale after school the first two days at
which time students can purchase most of their supplies.
7. Please let them know about the cell phone policy (allowed
between classes and one headphone rule) and give them
some basics about the dress code of Godwin high school.
8. There will be two Club Days during the second week of
school when students can pick up information about some
of the clubs during lunch.
Make certain that you point out the following locations:
Clinic
Gym especially sophomores!
Guidance Office
Commons
Library and HELP desk
Attendance
Trailers
SCA Let them know you can also be available to help on
the first day of school to answer any questions and during
4th period in room 96.
