English
The collection contains materials produced
and accumulated by the Society of
Bibliophiles of Albany, NY, throughout the
course of its operations between 1966 (first
meeting date) and 2002.
Two boxes contain mostly loose papers
organized into manila folders, as well as
two floppy discs. One box contains
booklets/pamphlets, a sign, and
membership/organization cards.

Contents of Materials

Current Arrangement

The collection consists of announcements,

newsletters, copies of the organizations
constitution, meeting minutes, membership
forms and cards, treasurers reports, as well
as a number of pamphlets from
bookbinders and booksellers and events
dating from before the birth of organization
and later.
Two of the boxes in this collection appear
to have been arranged, but likely by
different individuals. The first box is
arranged chronologically by year (19662002), and the second box is arranged
alphabetically by subject (with folders
labeled announcements arranged
chronologically by year (1991-2002).

The third box contains assorted materials

such as pamphlets and promotional
materials from booksellers and
bookbinders, and does not appear to adhere
to an arrangement scheme.
Folder level
The collection will consist of two series
arising from the content of the materials:
Administrative Documents and Subject
Folders. Administrative Documents will
contain those materials (such as newsletters
and meeting minutes) that are arranged in
folders labeled 1966-1991. This series also
contains two administrative folders for the
years 2001 and 2002. Subject Folders will
contain those materials (such as
announcements and treasurers reports) that
are arranged in folders labeled by subject.
Following the collections original order,
Administrative Documents will be arranged
chronologically, and Subject Folders will
be arranged alphabetically.
The third box, which contains materials
(such as pamphlets and promotional items
from booksellers and bookbinders)
accumulated but not produced by the
Society of Bibliophiles will be better
addressed during the arrangement process,
as it is currently unclear as to how these
materials fit into the collection.
A DACS-compliant finding aid will be
produced for this collection. The finding
aid will contain a summary of the
organizations mission and history, scope
and content information, series lists, subject
headings, and box and folder listings.
The condition of the collection is fair to
good: some of the papers are folded or have
torn edges, but there is no current need for
any further preservation.
