During the lesson, students should be able to,


1. Share writing with others
2. Use correct spelling for commonly used sight
words and phonetically regular words in final
copies
3. Begin each sentence with a capital letter and use
ending punctuation in final copies
4. Use complete sentences in final copies
5. Add descriptive words when writing about
people, places, things and events
6. Focus on one topic
7. Space words within sentences
8. Form letters accurately
Writing
1.12- The student will print legibly
1.13- The student will write to communicate ideas
The students will write a description of themselves
using descriptive words.
Descriptive words: color, size, etc.
Lined paper with space for picture, pencils, crayons,
colored pencils
Introduce what descriptive words are with a video
and a dance
This activity is focused on teaching the students about
descriptive words. The students will describe
themselves in 5 or more sentences, without using their
name. They will also draw a picture of themselves.

When everyone is done, Mrs. Richards will read each
description to the class and have them try to guess
which classmate it is about.
Have the students do the same activity but interview
another classmate and write about them instead of
themselves
