Skeletal Muscle

Cell

Jay, Max, Mimi, Noey

[1004]

Where their possible locations in the body

and why?
The skeletal muscle cell is located near the bones or
actually they are stick with the bone

How does it differ from the generalized

plant or animal cell?
Skeletal muscle has multinucleated cell fit on the
rim of the cell membrane.
Each organelle in animal cell or plant cell has only
one nucleus.

SIMPLE STRUCTURE OF THE CELL

Sacrolemma
= cell membrane

Sacroplasm
=cytoplasm

Myofibril
= cylinderical
structure along
the cell

Muscle fiber
= skeletal muscle cell

Nucleus

Nucleus

-have more than

one in single cell

Sarcoplasmic
reticulum

Sarcoplasmic
reticulum

Mitochondria
-many of it used
for cell respiration

-a resovior of calcium ion

Mitochondria

Opening
tranverse
tubles

Thick
filament
(myocin)

Thin
filament
(actin)

Myofilaments
-smallest unit of
this skeletal
muscle

Sacroplasm
-fluid-like in cell

Ribosome
-Make protein

Myoglobin

Myofibril

-store oxygen

Myofibrils
-small fiber that
extended along
the cell

Sarcolemma
-plasma
membrane that
covered the cell

Sarcolemma

T-tubules

Transverse Tubules
-The hole pass
through the fibre in-out

Muscle Contraction = is
when muscle shortening
as it generates force

What is the shape of the cell?

The appearance of skeletal muscle cell is long
tube. Average length is about 1-10 millimeters and
its diameter is approximately 10-120 micrometres
long.

What is the function of the cell?

Helping to support, Breath, move, and keep
the normal tempurature
RUN

What does the shape of the cell affect the

function?
A Skeletal muscle cell has to contract and extend
in accompany with body movement, so its long structure
allows the cell to change size.

How does its function fit in with the

function of the other cells to work in tissue
or an organ?
A skeletal muscle cell is controlled by the central
nervous system to contract and extend, and bones move
likewise. Body movements depend on this performance.

What are some of the disease related to

the malfunction of your cell type?
Myasthenia gravis

is a disease characterized by altering

weakness of the muscle group.

Osteoporosis

is the disease that can find with the old people

because of the hormone is not function very well. They will become
weak
