BEHAVIORS
17. Apply knowledge of human behavior and the
social environment, person-in-environment, and
other multidisciplinary theoretical frameworks to
engage with clients and constituencies.
How I will learn this behavior: by previous and
current course work at UNCP in the humanities and
SW program . Utilize knowledge of nursing
experience; follow the instructions of Prof. Thomas
and field supervisors.
How I will measure what I have learned: weekly
journal, attend care-plan meetings, one-on-one visits
w/residents, observe staff interaction.

BEHAVIORS
18.Use empathy, reflection, and interpersonal skills to
effectively engage diverse clients and constituencies.
How I will learn the behavior: try to utilize open-ended
questions when appropriate, allow the conversation to flow
naturally from the client. As a SW one should remember
that the client is the expert of their life.
How I will measure what I have learned: Use self-assessment to
prevent biases, journal regularly and discuss negative
feelings with agency supervisor.
