WELCOME BABY PARTNERS WITH DIAPER BANK OF NC

Parenting education nonprofit continues to supply diapers for Durham County residents
DURHAM, N.C. Welcome Baby today announced its partnership with the Diaper Bank of
North Carolina (DBNC) to provide Durham parents with toilet training education and free
diapers.
The partnership will mutually benefit both Welcome Baby and DBNC as it facilitates the
supply of diapers and toilet training education to families in Durham County. A total of four
training classes will be offered, including two in Spanish and two in English. Classes will be
hosted at the Welcome Baby facility at 721 Foster St. Durham, N.C., starting in the spring of
2016.
The partnership is supported by a $5,000 grant from Duke Universitys Doing Good in
the Neighborhood Community Care Fund. Transportation, childcare, snacks, diapers, books and
toilet training seats will be provided for class participants through the grant.

QUOTES:
We are grateful for the services Welcome Baby has provided for our family-- especially the
distribution of diapers, said a Welcome Baby customer. We are currently a one-income
household with 2 out of 3 children in diapers. Getting help with diapers has been one less thing
to worry about.

ABOUT WELCOME BABY:

Welcome Baby provides parenting education, support and supplies to families with young
children. Its services are free to all Durham County residents with newborns and children
through age 5. Its programs include car seat installation and safety classes, crib and sleep safety
classes, and a Giving Closet featuring gently used clothing and supplies for children and
expectant mothers. Welcome Baby is part of the Durham County Cooperative Extension.

ABOUT THE DIAPER BANK OF NORTH CAROLINA:

The Diaper Bank of North Carolina works to ensure that families with children and babies living
in poverty have an adequate supply of diapers. Its goal is to raise awareness and advocate for
policy reform so that diapers are regarded as a basic human need. The Diaper Bank has
distributed over 450,000 diapers in Durham and Orange counties.
