TheSweetTree
ThegameourgrouphasdecideduponiscalledtheSweetTree.Thegoalofthegameis
tohavethechildrenperformmathematicaloperationsusingouramazingSweetTree!Mathis
involvedthroughthegamebyhavingthekidspickingtwocandyDumDumsoffofthetree,
andthentheywillperformamathematicaloperationwiththosetwosuckers.Eachcandyhasa
colorattachedtothebackofthemcorrelatingwithacertainnumbertheywillusetodothe
mathematicaloperationwith.Forexample,ifthestudentchoosesacandywithareddotanda
candywithabluedottheymayhavetousethetwonumbers16and4.Sixteenwouldcorrelate
withthereddotandfourwouldcorrelatewiththebluedot.Theoperationtheyhavetoperform
isdeterminedbythemchoosingaleafwithanoperationonit.Theyareleavesbecausethe
suckersaresupposedtolookliketheyformatree.Theirsuccesswillbemeasuredbyiftheycan
correctlycalculatetheoperation.Theywillgetdifferentcandiesasaprizeiftheycalculatethe
numberscorrectly.Ifthestudentsneedassistance,ourgroupwillhavewhiteboards,dryerase
markers,andragsforthestudentstowriteouttheprobleminanattempttosolve.Thiscanhelp
themvisualizetheproblemandcarryanynumbersover.Ifthisisnotenoughtohelpthechild
succeedinsolvingtheproblem,ourgroupwilldoourbesttohelpthechildlearnwheretheyare
makingamistakeandhowtocorrectit.
Inconclusion,ourgroupshopeistohelpstudentsbeabletopracticetheirbasic
multiplication,addition,subtraction,anddivisionskillsthroughourgame.Weareconvincedthe
rewardofalollipopwillbeenoughtoconvincethekidstocomeplay.Theirhopesofgaininga
candyasarewardwillalsofactorintotheireffortwhiledoingthemathproblem.
