DCII: Magazine Assignment

Objective: Students will create a magazine to reinforce learning of table of contents, learning of
indexes, consistency of format, and creating a layout from a rough draft.
1.

Your theme for this magazine assignment is a magazine about YOURSELF.

2.

Find 5 Articles for your Magazine. You may use relevant and current events the Internet. If
you are using the internet, make sure you site your sources and place the correct citations in a
Resources page in front of your index.

3.

Try to use point size of 24-36 for titles and 12-14 for body text. Be consistent throughout
your magazine. Create a style for this and save it.

4.

Create a Table of Contents for your Magazine once you are finished typing all of your
articles. Include the name of the article, dot leaders, and page number(s).

5.

Create an Index for the back of your Magazine. This is the last thing you do once all
articles are typed.

6.

Put page numbers on each page. You will put the page number code on the master page.
Take off page numbers on the front cover and back cover.

7.

Create a front cover for your Magazine that has the title, Digital Communications II, date,
and your name on it. Your front cover needs to have teasers for the different articles youre going
to use in your magazine. Include graphics for each article teaser.

8.

On the back cover put the words: Digital Communications II in 10 point at the bottom
center with graphics throughout the back.

9.

Margins for your book should be .5 for all except the left margin. The left margin should
be 1.

10.

Be sure to spell check your document.

11.

Convert your Magazine to a .pdf (we will go over how to do this together)

12.

Print the front cover using printer marks (we will go over how to do this together)

13.

Project Due Date: Friday March 18th
