BIG SISTER IS WATCHING YOU

Everyone has talked about the similarities and differences between 1984 and
our times.
I will do more or less the same but from a funny point of view.
After reading the book, I could draw a comparison between the story described
in 1984 and in the present days in Argentina.

1) TELESCREEN: in 1984, the big brother controlled everyones moves

through a tele screen in every place and every home.
Nowadays, there are also tv screens in every place. big sister is also
present in our tv screens wherever we may be because of her national
chains
2) NEWSPEAK: in 1984, there was a special dictionary with the vocabulary
that was allowed to be used. The government somehow imposed the
newspeak to the society.
It is a controlled language created by the totalitarian state as a tool to
limit freedom of thought, and concepts that pose a threat to the regime
such as freedom, self-expression, individuality, and peace. Any form of
thought alternative to the partys construct is classified as
"thoughtcrime". E.g ungood, ignsoc, unperson, doublethink, miniluv,
pornosec, thinkpol
Nowadays, there is also a specific vocabulary related to the state, a
dialect that is specially referred to the current government. Eg: todos y
todas, presidente y presidenta, inclusion, modelo nacional y popular, la
decada ganada, monopolio, campora.
3) MEMORY HOLE: in 1984, there was a memory hole in which all the news
was discarded. They wanted to shape the past, nobody knew what
happened before the Revolution.
In our times, Big Sister somehow wants to erase the dictatorship past.
E.g. she hides the pictures of the previous presidents because they are
considered from the dictatorship. Another E.g. she imposed a new $100
bill with Evitas face instead of Rocas. for her, the past exists from peron
to our times. Everything that happened before has been omitted.
4) OCEANIA AT WAR: in 1984 oceania was at war with eastasia, etc.
In our country, the central govenrment is at war with the radical
governments of the other provinces. E.g FPV vs UCR
