Duclos Kindergarten Parent Information Night and Open House


Parent Information Night on Thursday, May 12 at 6:30 p.m.
This is for parents who have a child starting Kindergarten
next fall to learn more about Kindergarten at Duclos School
in 2016 - 2017.
Kindergarten Open House on Friday, May 13th. Parents can
bring their children to the school to see what Kindergarten is
all about as they get ready to start school next fall. The
Open House on Friday, May 13th will have a morning session
from 10 to 11 a.m. and an afternoon session from 1 to 2 p.m.
Please call the school to book a time that is convenient for

Notice to Duclos Kindergarten Parents - No School for Kindergarten on Friday, May 13th
Now is the time of year when we start introducing next years Kindergarteners and their parents to
our school and help them prepare for school.
As part of our introduction to Kindergarten, we will be holding an OPEN HOUSE on Friday, May 13th.
Because of the Open House there will be NO SCHOOL for our current Kindergarten students only on
Friday, May 13th. Classes will proceed as scheduled for all other students in our school.
We welcome you to register at Duclos School for 2016 - 2017:

All New Kindergarten students (Born Before March 1, 2012)
All New Students to Duclos School in Grades 1 to 4
Current K to 3 Duclos students do not have to register for 2016 - 2017

Please email Wendy by April 19, 2016 with suggested school council agenda items to be considered
for the next meeting. The next school council meeting is on Tuesday, April 26, 2016 at 6:30 p.m.
Duclos HE Bourgoin Parent Support Group Foundation will be having its AGM following the Duclos
School Council meeting on Tuesday, April 26, 2016 at 8:15 pm in the Duclos Staff room.
WANTED: LEGO
If you have some Lego you would like to donate to our school for a Grade 3/4 Lego Club, we
would really appreciate it. Please deliver it to Mrs. Casselman before April 15 if you have some you
are willing to give us. Thank you!
LEGO CLUB
Are you in Grades 3 and 4? Do you LOVE to build with Lego? If so, this is a Cool Lego Club for you to
join after school every second Thursday. The club will run from 3:30 to 4:30 on Thursdays in the Duclos
Library. If you wish to join, please pick up an application form from Mrs. Casselman. The club will
meet on the following Thursdays: April 21, May 12, May 26, and June 9. June 9 will be our last night
for Lego Club. See you there!

Duclos Centennial July 30-31, 2016


The Duclos Centennial Homecoming Weekend is July 30-31, 2016. It is coming quickly!
The Centennial Committee is looking for interested volunteers to help with the event.

The Duclos Centennial Committee is looking for Duclos History to Share. If you or any member of your
family has artifacts, memorabilia, yearbooks, vintage Duclos clothing from the past 100 years of
Duclos School history, please label and drop off at the school office. We look forward to sharing
Duclos history and memories with others. Let us know if you are donating it or want it back.

Scholastic Book Fair News


Thank you to everyone who supported our Book Fair. A percentage of Book Fair sales stay in
Duclos School to be used to support our library. A very special THANK YOU to Janine Hebert,
Rogera Lapointe, Taryna Mackay, Chantal Pilipchuk and Katelyn Hornseth for their assistance at
our very successful spring book fair.
We sold around $8,600 in books! Enjoy your new books and we will be adding lots of new books
to our library collection.
Jerzey Vachon was the winner of the family door prize. Jerzey won $25 worth of books and her
class, KA, won $25 worth of books as well! Way to go!!
Good Behavior Award Winners from March Congratulations!
Thanks to all students who receive Good Behaviour Awards every week. There are hundreds of
positive behaviours on display on the Good Behaviour Tree on the wall beside the library. Stop by to
see all the good things our students do.

Thanks to Mr. Bauer and Mr. Isert for running the grade 4 After School Sports
program. The students had a great time!
Thank you to the guest presenters from the Bonnyville Lacrosse Association for the
special lacrosse sessions in our Grades 1 to 4 Physical Education classes on April 11 and 12.
Kinosoo Ridge
Kinosoo Ridge Ski Days are done for this school year! Thanks to the staff at Kinosoo and
the Duclos staff for providing this fun outdoor physical education experience. Thanks to
all the parents who came along to help with the ski days. A HUGE thanks to the Duclos
School Council for providing the funding to cover the cost of bussing. We appreciate it!

Reading Tip of the month


Reading improves concentration. Children have to sit still and quietly so they can focus on the story
when theyre reading. If they read regularly as they grow up, they develop the ability to do this for
longer and longer periods.
