The University of Pittsburgh enables one to set up for post-baccalaureate life due to the
supreme location. This location not only houses the university but also many hospitals, including
University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC), its health care counterpart that includes many
branches. These branches include: twenty-one hospitals, four hundred clinical locations along
with doctors offices, and a 2.3 million-member health insurance division. UPMC has
developed regionally, nationally, and internationally renowned programs, earning its hospitals
repeated recognition among Americas Best Hospitals by U.S. News & World Report
(Upmc.com 1). UPMC includes the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine serving as the
academic partner. While working to achieve a medical profession from a variety of choices, one
performs internship work at various UPMC locations throughout their college career. In addition,
this university resides in downtown Pittsburgh. Pittsburghs highly-ranked hospitals acquired 5star health grades, quality awards, along with various other accomplishments. UMPC, one of the

highest ranking hospitals in the area, ranks in at thirteenth nationally. The University of
Pittsburgh sets one up for success due to the supreme location.
In addition to the supreme location, University of Pittsburgh also offers top-notch
education. Faculty and staff at the university work alongside students in order to lead them
towards the path of success. The University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and its
Curriculum Committee continuously study and renew the curriculum in order to provide our
graduates with the skills to handle the realities of a new era in medicine (Omed.pitt.edu 1).
Through the medical school, a student is enabled to acquire a fellowship or residency at UPMC
hospitals more effortlessly due to their recent internships while still attending college. This
university also offers career counseling and job placement services, which increases chances of
success in post-baccalaureate life. Training programs offered throughout a students education
also assists them in gaining experience in their field of study. The university also made the
accomplishment in becoming one of the top ranking schools. The University of Pittsburgh is an
internationally respected center of learning and research, offering exceptional educational
opportunities in the arts, sciences, and professions (Shanghairanking.com 1). This university
overall ranks in at sixty-sixth nationally, which beats out more than 5,200 other colleges. In
addition, according to startclass.com, the medical school at University of Pittsburgh obtained
ninth place in the nation which earns a higher spot than seven of eight Ivy League medical
schools. Those schools include: University of Pennsylvania, Columbia University, Dartmouth
College, Yale University, Brown University, Princeton University, and Cornell University. The

competitors.

Lastly, this university offers students robust preparation to help one throughout their
career and post-secondary success. Throughout medical school, programs enable students to be
recognized by various hospitals. According to the schools curriculum map on Omed.pitt.com,
students studying in their fourth year of medical education participate in acting internships and
interviews incorporated into their semesters. On the schools website, a page specifically for
employers through the Office of Career Development and Placement Assistance (CDPA) helps in
recruiting various students to the workforce. Electives provide students the ability to focus on
their particular career path and include many diverse choices in order to suit each students
interests. In the radiology department of the school, it offers: Two four-week courses in
Advanced Radiologyalso six, four-week courses in Clinical Radiologyand a Radiology
Research elective and an Interventional Radiology elective are also offered (radiology.pitt.edu
1). Through each of these, the students ability to be recognized by a hospital increases as their
semester progresses as they work alongside professionals. The university also works with
students through career counseling and job placement services. These two student services set
students in the right direction to achieving their ultimate goal and earning a spot in their desired
profession. Missing out on an opportunity will no longer pose as a factor, as the university
provides students with an extra push forward on their path to success. The robust preparation
provided by the University of Pittsburgh helps one in achieving post-secondary success.
All in all, the University of Pittsburgh assists one in setting up for post-baccalaureate life
