CD markers
CD 44
-Receptor for hyaluronic acid
- Controlled by posttranslational
modifications
- Wide variety of cell functions
CD 151
- Protein is from transmembrane 4
family
- 4 hydrophobic domains
- Mediate cell processes

Collagen
Collagen 2
- Makes up 50% of cartilage
- It forms fibrils
Collagen 9
- Component of hyaline cartilage
- Found with type 2 collagen
Collagen X
- Short collagen chain
- Expressed by hypertrophic chondrocytes
6

Other proteins
Aggrecan
- Cartilage specific proteoglycan core protein
- Integral part of ECM of cartilage
- Has 3 globular domains
CEP-68
- Harbors N terminal leader peptide
- Complements Collages 2
Matrilin 1
- vWB factor A containing protein family
- Involved in filamentous networks in ECM
7

Other proteins
Sox 9
- Acts during chondrocyte
differentiation
- It also plays a role in male sexual
development
YKL 39 and 40
- Glycoprotein 40 kDA in size
- 3 N terminal amino acids.

Conclusion
The method used in the paper was by
using mouse monoclonal antibodies
against Col 2 and biotinylated anti mouse
secondary antibodies
For collagen X, rabbit monoclonal
antibodies were used and anti rabbit
secondary antibodies were used
For elastin, mouse monoclonal antibodies
and anti mouse secondary antibodies were
used
