Dear Lorri Stivers,
My name is Samantha Sankey and Im hoping you would please consider this letter in
application for the posted position for Middle School Classroom Instructor in
Instrumental Music. My personal philosophy statement goes right along with your
districts Mission Statement Preparing wise students who master standards, lead by
example, and embrace social responsibility. I also believe strongly that students should
come out of school prepared to be great citizens and I firmly believe that as educators we
have the great responsibility of modeling this.
I am currently finishing the degree requirements for my Bachelors degree in music
education with a dual emphasis in flute and percussion at the University of Louisville.
Im currently student teaching at Farnsley Middle School alongside Ms. Kathy Hunt.
While working there Ive been able to experience a lot of behind the scenes work done
for festivals, field trips, and t-shirt orders. Ive also had the great opportunity to really
experience being a team player due to the amazing culture the arts department has. I have
gained experience in helping to organize combined field trips, combined mini-concerts,
as well as combined fundraisers. I look forward to the opportunity to add my personal
experiences and knowledge to an already stellar educational organization.
While in Ms. Hunts classroom at Farnsley Ive been given the opportunity to experience
a beginning ukulele class. Ukulele classes have been increasing in popularity in music
programs recently due to the provided opportunity to reach out to non-traditional music
students that regular band classes might not normally reach.
I believe that my skills and dedication to teaching music and social responsibility make
me an ideal candidate for your position. I would welcome the great opportunity of
working in such a progressive school system, and look forward to hearing from you at
your earliest convenience.
Sincerely,
Samantha Sankey
