Originating Idea: The children want responsibility & a sense of competence in

what they do.
Curriculum Area: Social & Emotional Development
KDI: #7-Self Identity, #8-Sense of Competence, #11-Community, & #12-Building
Relationships
Materials: A chart, tongue depressors with childrens pictures & written names on
them
Appropriate Age Group: 3-4 year olds
Beginning of Activity: The job chart will be introduced & jobs described.
Middle of Activity:
Early Extension: Some children will want only the simple jobs.
Middle: Most children will want to have all the jobs.
Later Extension: Some children will try to come up with more jobs for the
chart.
End of Activity: The job chart will be posted so the children can see whose job it
is to do things.
Follow up Ideas (2): -Make a calendar so the children can see when they have
jobs coming up.
-Read books about responsibility & jobs.
