Description

This course provides an overview of frequently observed vestibular


and ocular motor abnormalities following concussion. The functional
implications of these findings and potential rehabilitation intervention
for identified dysfunction will also be discussed.

Learning Objectives

At the end of this course, the learner will be able to:

Provide background information regarding concussion


management.

Review treatment/rehabilitation protocols.

Review the utility of ImPACT as a tool for effective concussion


management.

Provide a foundation for implementation of an effective


concussion management program.

Discuss the role of the athletic trainer in the management of


concussion.

At this time ImPACT is not able to offer continuing education


credits to occupational therapists, psychologists, registered
nurses, or other healthcare professionals. We are in the process
of applying to be able to offer credits to as many disciplines as

Anne Mucha, PT, DPT, MS, NCS

Anne Mucha is the Coordinator of Concussion Vestibular Programming for the


Centers of Rehab Services and the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center Sports
Concussion Program.
She received her Bachelors and Advanced Masters degrees in Physical Therapy from
the University of Pittsburgh; and her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Temple
University. She is a board certified clinical specialist in Neurologic Physical Therapy
with advanced training in vestibular rehabilitation.
She is an adjunct faculty member in the Department of Physical Therapy at the
University of Pittsburgh and has over 20 years of clinical experience in treating
individuals with neurologic conditions. Anne is actively involved in ongoing research
projects with the Sports Concussion Program within UPMC and served as an at-large
expert member of the consultant workgroup on Concussion for the American Physical
Therapy Association. She was recently appointed a member of the CDC panel of
experts to develop clinical guidelines for diagnosis and management of mild
traumatic brain injury among children and adolescents.
