Lord of The Flies
Plot:
The plane evacuates with schoolboys from London, but they end on an island.
Piggy and Ralph find a conch shell. Who hold the shell can speak and other boys
listen to him. They vote a leader. Jack really wants to be a leader but Ralph wins.
Ralph, Piggy, Simon and some boys go to explore the island. The boys agree to
set a fire to call for help. They use Piggys glasses. Golding made a mistake
because Piggy is short-sighted. This attempt is unsuccessful.
Small boys think that in the island is a monster, they are scared of it. There is a
plane with parachutist. Boys make an expedition to search the monster. Simon
has a dream that the boars head on a wooden stake is speaking. After that he
finds a parachutist, he wants to tell it to boys but boys kill him. Piggy and Ralph
are sorry. Boys are arguing and Roger kills Piggy. Hunters want to kill Ralph too.
Ralph collapse on the beach because he is very exhausted. British naval officer
wakes up Ralph and asks him to explain. When he realizes what happen, he starts
crying and other boys sob too.
Ralph and Piggy symbolize law and order. Jack and Roger stand for evil, they
are the Hunters. Simon represents goodness. The conch represents some kind
of authority, who holds it is allowed to speak = democracy. At the end the conch
is smashed to the pieces = the symbol of democracy, law and order is broken.
The dead parachutist represents adult world. The signal fire is connected
with civilization and hope.
