For the next 7 class periods, we will be learning about health, wellness, and the

benefits of engaging in physical activity. The approach for this unit will not be a
typical lecture-style class, but will be student-driven by an inquiry question. The
lessons each day will build up in preparation for a final presentation of a Weebly
assignment. The inquiry question that you will be exploring is: What does it mean
to live a healthy lifestyle?

IMAGINE.
Your family has decided to start living a
healthier lifestyle. There is just one problem,
no one is quite sure just where to begin! The
family takes a vote and decides that you are
going to figure out just what it means to live
a healthy lifestyle. Your family is counting on
you to provide them with valuable
information about food, exercise, and other
important factors.
So let the research
begin!!
Within your groups of 3, each day you will research, collaborate, and record your
findings on an online journal, via google docs. I would like to see the journal
organized well in either an OUTLINE format or a type of CONCEPT MAP. This way it
will be easier to translated the information to the Weebly website. At the end of
each class, one member of your group will take a significant finding from that days

research and tweet it for the rest of the class to see via the class twitter account.
Remember to hashtag #MrHoltPE20.
To make sure the work is spread evenly throughout the groups, each member of the
group will have specific assignments, rotating each day so everyone gets a chance
to do each role, holding everyone accountable for the work.

Role 1- Discussion Leader

o Leads discussion
o Makes sure everyone is doing their task
o Makes sure the other members are contributing
o Speaks out for the group if a question arises or guidance is needed
Role 2- Research Leader
o Delegates what is to researched
o Makes sure sources are properly cited
o Makes sure information is handed-off to the recorder
Role 3- Recorder
o Gives updates on the teams progress
o Takes notes and transfers them to the google docs
o Tweet a daily significant comment
Teachers Role
o Provide the Inquiry questions that will lead into daily discussions
o Assess throughout and the final project
o Aid and guide the research, answer student questions
o Keep the class focused and engaged on the work
o Provide technological tools/resources/links to simplify your work

Each day we will be focusing on different elements of what it means to be healthy.

It is important that you manage your class time wisely and effectively. What you
dont get done in class needs to be finished before the next day so you dont fall
behind. Although this is a student driven assignment, each class period at the
beginning, I will provide you with mini-inquiry questions of where your group will
want to research for that day. I will provide you with informational websites and
Weebly ideas to help steer you in the right direction. The first 4 days will be work
periods to research and gather information. Day 5, you may begin working on the
final assignment, or you may want to explore further into the topic. Day 6 will be
the final period to work on the presentation, and day 7 will be presentation day.

Instructions on Creating the Weebly

In your Weebly, I want your group highlighting the information you found during
your research and collaboration. Included in the Weebly should be descriptive facts,
charts, images, a video (homemade), and a reference list. You will also be graded
on how well the Weebly is put together, including the titles, subtitles, the inquiry
question is present, color and text, and a WOW factor. The WOW factor may include
personal demonstrations, evidence of searching out a professional, or anything else
that will make us go WOW!!
Resources that you may use while conducting your research, collecting information,
and transferring the information to your google docs:
RESEARCH
A majority of the time spent in class will be conducting your own research within
your assigned groups. *It is imperative that you do so in a professional way, taking
great care into the things you are searching for. Research each topic carefully and
thoroughly to make sure what you find is fact, up-to-date, and resourceful.* If you
have any question on the information you find, please contact the teacher. Here are
a few guides to help you begin your research, more help may be found on the class
Edmodo webpage:
