fractions
Equivalent fractions are fractions that
represent the same value with
different numerator and denominator.
Example: Find 3 equivalent fractions
for 3/5.
Solution
3/5 = 3/5 x 2/2 = 6/10
=3/5 x 3/3 = 9/15
=3/5 x 4/4 = 12/20

3/5 = 6/10 = 9/15 = 12/20
Answer:
3 equivalent fractions 3/5
are 6/10, 9/15, 12/20.

3.7 Determine whether two given


fractions are equivalent
Step of determine whether two given fractions are
equivalent.
1. Change both fractions into same denominator.
2. Compare the numerator whether they are same.
3. If the numerator are the same, they are
equivalent.
4. If the numerator are the different , they are not
equivalent.

3.8 Use the LCM method to find


common denominator.

Example: find the common
denominator of
2/3 and 3/4
The LCM of 3 and 4 is 3x4 = 12.
