MISSION STATEMENT
At my core, I am a person who values family, friends, learning, and care for others. My identities
give me a lens to see the world, and I use these aspects of myself as way to inform my actions and
reflections in life. I am a filipina/white woman. I am a daughter, sister, wife, and mother. I am passionate
about being a good example to my children by being a supportive energy in their lives, by being a social
justice advocate, and by being someone who battles adversity to reach my goals. My lifes purpose is to
be an instrument of love the world, to be a mentor who challenges others to reach their goals, and to be
forever a student on the value of life.
My work in higher education is not just a career, but a calling to help others. Change can only
happen if we are willing to step out our comfort zones and be the example of what we hope the world can
be. Student Affairs is my chosen palette for social justice advocacy towards positive changes in our
society. I want to be a transformative leader, a leader sensitive to context, and reflective of both my
accomplishments and challenges. Through these experiences, I will be an instrument of empowerment
for students and for those I work with by being an informed and ever-evolving student of students. As I
grow, I will keep in mind my history, my identities, and the impact of my actions in the world. It is my
turn to give back by listening, by speaking up, and by being the best administrator I can be. I am ready to
face the challenges and joys that await me as I continue in this pathway, and I hope to be a light in this
world to guide others to their unique pathways.
