Childhood
Very adventurous and athletic
First words words were "bootball"
Played on his elementary school's football team
until the sixth grade
Played basketball on his Junior High team
Loved to talk football with his Dad; during and
after the games
Raised by two loving and caring parents in a
uplifting home with Catholic values
Attended St. Croix Catholic school
Very solidified in his Catholic faith and was
Confirmed

He never went on to attend
college
Zach was only fourteen when
Osteosarcoma entered the
picture so college wasn't on the

When he found out that he was
terminally ill, Zach forgot about
college and focussed on making
his last few months of life count

Major Accomplishments
Being able to succeed even while being forced to live
with both cancer and knowing that you are going to die
Zachary wrote a song that made it to the number one
on the iTunes top ten on May 22, 2013 (two days
following his death)
Lived a life that eventually was documented by many
media outlets like CNN, Katie, and YouTube, as well
as a cherished memoir

His life and story created a memoir that has raised
$834,338.48 to aid Osteosarcoma research (the
branch of cancer that Zachary was diagnosed
with)

Most Curious Aspect


His ability to maintain both his faith and his peace
during the entire span of his battle with
Osteosarcoma
He was a little down in certain parts of the
journey, but he never broke down and lost it,
( although his mother did a few times)

Drawing Conclusions

You can always trust that God has a plan for your
life, no matter what circumstances seem to ruin
your life' spans (even if I don't share Zach's same
denomination)
