DETAILS OF MAIN JOB

MICROWAVE TRANSMISSION
Microwave consists of outdoor and indoor units (ODU and IDU). The outdoor unit of the split-structured
radio equipment. It implements frequency conversion and amplification for RF signals. The indoor unit of
the split-structured radio equipment. It implements accessing, multiplexing/demultiplexing, and IF
processing for services.
TROUBLESHOOTING MICROWAVE LINKS
Possible Faults and the causes
Transmit power is abnormal which is normally caused by faulty ODU
Receiver power always lower than the normal value which is normally caused by Antenna direction
not properly adjusted; Antenna h
ave different polarization directions; Mountain or obstacle in a transmit direction; Faulty antenna or
antenna and ODU are connected abnormally; Faulty ODU.
Microwave link becomes faulty occasionally though receive power is normal which is normally
caused by external interference
The receive power is abnormal due to slow up-fading which is normally caused by external
interference
Fault Locating Methods
1. Check whether the ODU is mute, powered off, or looped back. Check whether the data
configuration is correct.
2. Check whether the ODU and the IF board are faulty.
3. If the transmit power is abnormal, replace the ODU.
4. If the receive power is abnormal, check out the possible causes based on the fading type.
5. If the receive power is always normal, but the microwave link becomes faulty occasionally.
Check whether there is interference before you proceed.
6. If the transmit/receive power is normal, perform loopback operations.
