Augmentative Communication

Core Curriculum Content Standard:


3.3 All students will speak in clear, concise language that varies
in content and form for different audiences and purposes.
3.4 All students will listen actively to information from a variety
of sources in a variety of situations.
Goal: L. will use a total communication approach to access her
environment and participate in functional/social activities.
Objectives:
1. L. will initiate and respond appropriately to social greeting
utilizing a VOD, given prompts (i.e. verbal, visual, and tactile)
and sign language with 80% accuracy.
2. L. will appropriately request a desired object/toy/activity or
assistance utilizing a VOD, given prompts (i.e. verbal, visual, and
tactile) and sign language with 80% accuracy.
3. L. will appropriately indicate termination of an activity utilizing a
VOD, given prompts (i.e. verbal, visual, and tactile) and sign
language with 80% accuracy.
11/2/15 Daily Log Notes
Materials: communication board and pictures, Big Mac, phone
toy, and Ipad Yo Gabba Gabba videos
1. Initiate and respond appropriately to social greetings utilizing
a VOD
o Required hand-over-hand assistance to wave hello to
therapist and light physical assistance to say hello via Big
Mac device. 10%
2. Appropriately request a desired object/toy/activity or
assistance utilizing a VOD
o Requested Yo Gabba Gabba video. Required hand-overhand assistance to produce functional sign of more. 10%
3. Appropriately indicate termination of an activity utilizing a
VOD
o Required hand-over-hand assistance to sign finished and
utilize BigMac and communication board to terminate
activity. 10%
Generally, student was compliant, cooperative, and produced
decreased whining. Appeared to tolerate Passy Muir speaking
valve throughout session.
