TV Alert: DeGrow Highlights Jeffco School Financial Transparency

We invite you to watch the next episode of Independent Thinking, airing locally
in the Denver area on KBDI Channel 12 this Friday, February 5, at 8:30 PM,
and repeating on Monday, February 8, at 1:30 PM. Jeffco Public Schools chief
financial officer Lorie Gillis joins our own Ben DeGrow and host Jon Caldara to
discuss her school district’s exemplary progress in posting detailed spending
information online in a searchable, easy-to-use format. Ben recently completed
the issue backgrounder “What Should School District Financial Transparency
Look Like?” and testified on the topic before the House Education Committee.

Feb. 11 Event Reminder: Randy DeHoff on 21st Century Learning

Don’t forget … You are invited to join us at our offices next Thursday, February
11, as State Board of Education vice chairman Randy DeHoff discusses whether
21st century learning is the wave of the future or just the latest education fad.
Reception starts at 5:30 PM, followed by the formal program at 6:15. Teachers
are invited to attend a 5:00 PM special private meeting with the guest speaker.
Admission to the event is free. Donations to the Independence Institute are
