Rotational Molding Troubleshooting

Problem : Long-term part failure

Probable Cause

Possible Solutions

- Use higher oven temperature and/or longer oven time for

undercured parts
Undercured parts

- Improve heat transfer by using air flow amplifier, heat

deflectors or thermal pins
- Ensure that all materials have low moisture content

Overcured parts

- Decrease oven temperature and/or oven time

- Ensure that the type and the amount of additive is sufficient

Improper additive or pigment

- Use the pigments that have high thermal stability, light and UV
resistant and disperses well in the base resin

Low environmental stress cracking resistance

(ESCR)

- Use low MI grade (e.g. MFI 3 )

- Use octene or hexene for stress-proned applicationd

Poor part design

- Avoid stress-contrentation (e.g. sharp corners )
