EL VERBO IR = TO GO

The

verb IR is not pronounced -i-r. It is


pronounced ear like what you use to
hear! Ir means to go.

A form

of IR is usually followed by the


letter a because a means to and
usually when we use the word go or
going we are saying go to or going to.

Nosotros VAMOS

T VAS

El VA
Ella VA
Usted VA

Ellos VAN
Ellas VAN
Ustedes VAN

IR = TO GO
Yo VOY
I go/ I do go/ I am going

Nosotros VAMOS

go

If

the word after the A is feminine, you are


going to have A LA (place.)

Ex:

We go/ are going to the cafeteria=


Nosotros vamos a la cafetera.
If the word after the A is masculine, you are
going to have A +EL which becomes AL.
For

example: I am going to the bathroom=


Yo voy a el bao = Yo voy al bao.

IR = TO GO
I go to Spanish class =
Yo voy a la clase de espaol.
They go to class.
Ellos van a la clase.

IR = TO GO
To tell what someone is going to do in the
future, we can use IR + A + infinitive
(not-conjugated verb)
Vas a comer = You are going to eat.
Voy a estudiar = I am going to study.

You can also use IR + A plus a notconjugated verb to say what someone
is going to do.
Ex:

I am going to read =
Yo voy a leer.
