PHILOSOPHY

IBELIEVEthateducationsetsthefoundationto
success. In order for students to learn best,
differentiatedinstructionmustbeputinplacethat
acknowledges students cultural backgrounds,
linguistic abilities, and social needs. Pedagogy
should include cultural references that are
relevant to all learners and should empower
individualsofalllearningstylestosucceed.
This begins by leveraging students funds of
knowledgeasthefoundationofaninquirybased
approach in which students are empowered to
see themselves as successful learners. This
growth mindset is reinforced through project
basedlearningandparticipatoryapproachesthat
give students active, engaged roles in the
classroom.
Becauseeachchildisunique,anyparticipatory
teachingmodelmusthaveopportunitiesfor
studentstoparticipateinthewaysthataremost
beneficialforthem,including:visual/audioaids,
kinesthetictechniques,TotalPhysicalResponse,
andSIOPModellessonplans.Byaligningwith
thisphilosophy,Ibelievethateachstudentwill
bemotivatedinlearningandequippedfor
success.
