Cinquain

What is a Cinquain Poem?


A Cinquain poem is five
lines long. The lines usually
do not rhyme. They can be
written about anything. It is
always centered when typed
or written out on paper.

What a Cinquin Poem looks like:


Line

1: One word that is a noun


Line 2: Two adjectives that describe line 1
Line 3: Three -ing words (action verbs) that relate
to line 1
Line 4: Four feeling words (or a feeling phrase
with four words) that relate to line 1
Line 5: One word that is a synonym for the word
on line 1

What is a Noun?
A Noun is a person,
place or thing.

What is an Adjective?

An adjective is a word
that describes a noun.

What is a Verb?
A Verb is an action
word.

Examples of a Cinquain
Poem:

Flowers
colorful, fragrant
swaying, growing, blooming
Make me feel happy
Blossoms

Tree
tall, green
reaching, growing, standing
witness to the past
future
