Dear Scholarship Committee: I write to give Emily Porteous Martinez my highest recommendation for the scholarship at your institution. Emily is currently a standout journalist for our student newspaper, The Plainsmen Post, and she has produced more content than anyone else in the publications three-and-a-half year history. In addition to her heavy STEM-based curriculum here at Frank Phillips College, she is always contributing to the culture and wellbeing of our college. Mrs. Martinezs level of maturity and determination is without equal at Frank Phillips College. She has earned the sterling reputation from FPC faculty as one of the most dedicated and driven students on campus. While I have not had the pleasure of having Emily in any of my classes, I still observe the positive impact she has on her other teachers and fellow student colleagues. From the first day I met her, Emily has always been a student who is never satisfied with merely good; she is always striving to be the best student she can be. At the newspaper, Emily always comes to our club meetings prepared and ready to pitch compelling story ideas. She takes photographs, attends most school events, and has written pieces ranging in topic from gardening to student success. She always completes her work on time and is a leader whom other students look up to. In fact, I recently gave her the title of Senior Writer, a promotion that is unprecedented at our newspaper. Because of her hard work and meticulous attention to detail, I know she will make an outstanding student of biology someday. I hope youll consider Emily Martinez for this scholarship. She has and will continue to do great work with passion, innovation, and integrity. Please call or email me if you have any questions. Sincerely,
