CONSERVATION EXPERIENCE
Northeast Document Conservation Center
January 2015 - present
Assistant Paper Conservator. Supervised by Michael Lee, Director of Paper and Photograph Conservation.
Individual and batch treatments of archival documents, manuscripts, prints, fine art, maps, oversize materials, bound
materials, daguerreotype cases. In situ treatment of wallpaper. Before and after treatment written and photographic
documentation.
Examining objects, writing treatment proposals and cost estimates, communicating and meeting with clients.
Negotiating treatment priorities and conservation needs with clients, supervisor, fellow conservators, and digitization
specialists to ensure efficient workflow.
Involved in both individual projects and group projects performed with one or more fellow conservators.
Responsible for the examination and treatment of Flemish manuscripts for the National Endowment for the Humanities
funded digitization and cataloging project "Imaging the Hours: Creating a Digital Resource of Flemish Manuscripts."
Treatments included pigment and ink consolidation, parchment repair, and binding stabilization.
Discussed treatment priorities and conservation needs with supervisor, curator, and digitization specialists to facilitate
workflow and safety of objects.
Treatment of books, flat paper and parchment objects. Prepared materials for digitization, loans and exhibition.
Assisted in set-up of three exhibitions which included bound volumes, flat paper, textiles, and paintings.
Assisted in planning and implementing a disaster salvage workshop for library employees.
Integrated pest management: collect and replace traps, identify insects, tabulate results and create quarterly report.
Constructed custom enclosures: drop-spine boxes, four-flap enclosures, encapsulations with ultrasonic welder, boxes for
three-dimensional objects.
Prepared 20 Medieval and Renaissance manuscripts for inclusion in in-house exhibition Living by the Book: Monks,
Nuns and Their Manuscripts; 6 of these manuscripts were treated.
Treatments included pigment and ink consolidation, parchment and paper repair, binding stabilization, filling losses in
boards and leather.
Strapped books to custom-fitted cradles, placed books in exhibition space, worked with curator on arrangement.
Created false margin mount for parchment incunable fragment.
Boston Athenaeum
Worked with supervisor and curators to design and perform complete treatment on six books, including written and
photographic documentation.

Participated in group treatment of mold damaged 18 century book.
Treatments included tear repair, guarding, and rebinding used sewn boards binding.
Created clam shell boxes and wraparound cases, scanned spines and created facsimile labels.
Assisted with cleaning the museums American Silver collection in preparation for photography and cataloguing.
Pre-program Volunteer Analytical Lab. Supervised by Beth Price, Senior Scientist for Conservation.

Used infrared spectrometer and portable Raman spectrometer to identify materials in spray paints and plastics.
Drew pigment structures in ISIS/Draw and ChemDraw for the Infrared and Raman Users Group website.
Helped to plan and edit the workflow for an updated Infrared and Raman Users Group website.
Traveled to the MFA Boston with Beth Price to collect and organize the data to contribute to the IRUG spectral database.
Laser Technician. Supervised by Melissa Meighan, Conservator of Decorative Arts and Sculpture.

Helped laser clean south parapet wall of museums main building using a 1000 watt Nd:YAG laser, model name
Lasersystem CL 1000Q.
Conservation Technician Collections Move. Supervised by Sally Malenka, Conservator of Decorative Arts
and Sculpture. June 2009 March 2010.
Assisted with move in the Museums East Asian, silver, and rug and tapestry collections.
Duties included handling, moving, and building custom storage boxes for the artwork.
Participated in the preparation, freezing, and thawing of textiles.
Gallery Maintenance Technician. Supervised by Melissa Meighan, Conservator of Decorative Arts and
Sculpture. October 2009 July 2011.
Responsible for cleaning of vitrines and display furniture; dusting of frames, objects on display, and period rooms;
vacuuming of upholstery and curtains.
