LTD. ‘Technical Service Group Page No.2 of 30 ®@ SPECIFICATION FORERWLINE PIPE Doc, No GGCLITSISP-ERWIOt REV-00 GUUARAT GAS, 1 Ml 12 3. 31 3.2 SCOPE PURPOSE AND COVERAGE (Add-on) This specification establishes the minimum requirements for the manufacture of longitudinal seam eleciric welded steel line pipes(PSL-2) in accordance with the requirement of API {American Petroleum Inslitute) SL, Forty fourth edition, addendum April 2010 and makes restrictive amendments to API 5L. Unless modified and referred by this specification, the requirements of API Specs shall be valid. This includes supplementary requirements also. The coverage by this specification is limited to line pipe conveying onshore high pressure Natural Gas in accordance with API Specification SL. This specification is applicable to nominal pipe size 4” to 24” NB and for grade up to X60. The Manufacturers shall have a valid license to use API Monogram for manufacturing of line pipes in accordance with the requirements of API SL, Forty fourth editions 2007 The section, poragraph and appendices contained herein have the same numbering as that of API Spec. SL. in order fo facilitate common reference. Additional requirements which are not specified in API SL have also been numbered and marked as "(Add-on)" (Add-on) Unless and othenwise specified, the manufacturer shall follow the Product Specification Level 2 (PSL 2). PSL 2 has mandatory requirements for chemical and mechanical. No.: GGCLITSISP-ERWIO1 REV.00 [GUIARAT GAS, 4, 81 88 89 TERMS AND DEFINITIONS (Add-on) For the purpose of this specification, the following additional definitions apply. + “OWNER” shall be used to indicate “Gujarat Gas Co. Ltd.’ + “TPI" shall be used to indicate “Third Party Inspection Agency ". + “Contractor” shall be used to indicate Supplier or Manufacturer or Contractor engaged by “OWNER” to execute the job. MANUFACTURING. PROCESS OF MANUFACTURE The steel used in manufacturing of pipe to this specification shall be made in basic oxygen or electric arc furnace. The steel used for manufacture of pipes shail be fully killed and fine- grained with a grain size as per ASTM 7 of finer as per ASTM E 112. All the heats of steel should be subject to chemical, mechanical and impact test at 0° C for first day and regular production. Pipe shall have longitudinal seam, manufactured using electric induction or electric resistance welding process utilising high frequency electric supply (minimum 250 kHz} to cover size and grade mentioned in this specification. The system shall have an integrated Conitol in which following data, as a minimum shall be monitored. Time Welding speed Current and Voltage Welding Temperature Heat treatment temperature. vyvyy TREATMENT OF WELD SEAM The weld seam and the entire heat affected zone (HAZ) shall receive a normalising heat treatment in order to control the structure, so that no untempared marlensite remain in the weld seom and the HAZ. The mechanical properties of heat treated zone is approximately equivalent to that of the parent metal. The quality of the longitudinal weld shall be such as to produce weld joint efficiency factor of 1.0, A Manufacturing procedure as described in Annex 8 of this specification shall be prepared and submitted fo TP engaged by OWNER for cpproval prior fo star! of production. No GGCLITSISP-ERWIO1 REV-00 GUIARAT GAS. 812 8.13 8.13. % 9.2. 9.2.2 HEAT TREATMENT The pipes shall be produced from skelp which shall be quenched and tempered or controled rolled or combined controlled rolled and accelerated cooled to impart uniformly fine ferritic grain structure to the finished steel. The welding of external and intemal flash is trimmed off and weld seam is normalised throughout the wall thickness by high power electric inductors. The alignment of seam shall be within the normalising zone. Other types of heat treatment shall be agreed after taking the prior approval from TP! engaged by OWNER. TRACEABILITY TRACEABILITY REQUEIRMENTS Manufacturer shall establish and follow documented procedures for maintaining the heat identity and the test unit identity for all pipes. Such procedures shall provide means for tracing any length of pipe to the proper test unit and related chemical and mechanical test results. ACCEPTANCE CRITERIA CHEMICAL COMPOSITION The chemical composition of each heat of steel on product analysis for PSL 2 shall be in accordance with Table 1 below. Boron shall not exceed the value indicated & shalll not be intentionally added. NOTE: Table 5 of API spec 5L are void. In no case the variation in chemical composition beyond above specified limit are permissible. 9.24 The Carbon Equivalent CE (Pcm} and CE (lIW) shall be determined as per API SL and as modified in this specification. In the heat analysis if boron content indicates less than 0.0005%, then the product analysis need not include boron and boron content can be considered as zero for the CE (Pem) calculations. The Carbon Equivalent CE (Pem) and CE (lIW) shal be based on the carbon content in the product analysis. All Carbon Equivalent results shalll be reported The carbon equivalent CE (Pem) and CE (lIW) shall be calculated by using the following formulas for product analysis. The carbon content is greater than 0.12% in product analysis, the CE (IIW) shall not exceed 0.40 (IW) =C + Mn + Cr+Mo+V + Ni+Cu ‘6 5 15 The carbon content is less than 0.12% in product analysis, the CE (Pcm) shall not exceed 0.2. No.: GGCLITSISP-ERWIOI REV.00 GWUARAT GAS, 9.3 TENSILE PROPERTIES 9.3.2 For PSL 2, API SL, the actual maximum yield strength shall be as close as possible to the 94 96 98 9.8.1 982 specified minimum yield strength (SMYS} but in no coses it shall exceed SMYS by 20,000 psi. For PSL-2 pipe Mechanical Properties (Tensile, Yield, and Elongation) shall be as per Table” of API SL The ratio between yield strength and ultimate tensile strength of base material of finished pipe shall not exceed 0.90. The ultimate tensile of the weld shall be equal to or greater than the specified minimum of the base metal. HYDROSTATIC TEST All the pipes shall withstand the hydrostatic test without leakage through the weld seam or the pipe body. The test pressure shall be such that hoop stress generated is at least 95% of SMYS computed based on formula mentioned in APIL SL para 10.2.6.5 for all sizes and grade of pipe mentioned in this specification. Test pressure shall be held for a minimum holding period of 15 second for all sizes and grade of pipe mentioned in this specification. FLATTENING TEST Flattening test shall be performed for the pipe size less than 12” NB as per Fig.6 of API SL. Acceptance Criteria: Flattened to ¥ original OD without weld opening, continue flattening to % of specified OD without cracks other then in weld and continue flattening until opposite wall of pipe meet and no lamination on material on full flat. Dye penetrate testing may be used to positively confirm the presence of crack, break or opening. CVN IMPACT TEST FOR PSL 2 PIPE GENERAL The charpy test shall be performed for all the sizes and grades mentioned in this specification in accordance with requirements of API 51. The charpy test shall be carried out at 0°c. PIPE BODY TEST The minimum average absorbed energy for each pipe body test shall be in accordance with the requirements of Table 8 of API SL. LTD. ‘Technical Service Group Pago No of 30, ® SPECIFICATION FORERW LINE PIPE Doe, No.: GGCLITS/SP-ERWIO1 REV-00 ‘cuuAnar Gas The average shear valve of the fracture appearance of three specimens from the bose meial shall not be less than 85% and 75% individual minimum. 9.83 Pipe weld and HAZ Test shall be in accordance with requirements of Cl.No.9.8.3 of API 5L. 9.9 DROP WEIGHT TEAR TEST Fracture toughness test for pipe size more than 12 "N.8 and above shall be determined by manufacturer by using Drop weight Tear Test (DWTT] and the acceptance in accordence with the requirements of API Spec. SL. 9.10 SURFACE CONDITIONS, IMPERFECTIONS AND DEFECTS All pipes shall be free from defects, cracks sweats, leaks, and dents in the finished conditions, 9.10.3 ARC BURNS Are Burns produced during the manufacturing of pipes is injurious defects and shall be disposed off in accordance with the requirements of API SPEC. 5L Clause C.2, C.3 b) or C.3 ¢}. As areference method of confirming the existence of an arc burn, the area shall be buffed with wire brush or sand disc and etched with 5% nital solution, The arc bums more than 3 (Three]per pipe is not permitted and UT shall be performed to check for harmful defects at arc area. 9.10.4 LAMINATIONS The acceptance limit and disposition of lamination type defects on the skelp/ pipe body shalll be as described in para 9.10.4 of API SL.Also Laminations in the longitudinal edges of the skelp shall not be permitted. 9.10.5 GEOMETRIC DEVIATIONS 9.10.5.2 The depth of dent shall not be more than 3 mm. No jacking work shall be allowed on pipe to remove the Dent. Grinding is allowed for the same. Dents on weld and heat affected zone (HAZ) are not acceptable. Disposition of dents shall be carried out in accordance with C.3 {0} or (c} of API Spec. SL. 9.10.6 HARD SPOTS Any hare spot larger than 50 mm in any direction shall be classified as defect if ils hardness exceeds 248HV10 (equivalent to 22 HRC}. (GUJARAT GAS CO. L7D. No GGCLITSISP-ERWIO1 REV-00 GUUARAT GAS, 9.10.7 OTHER SURFACE IMPERFACTIONS, Any imperfection like pits, laminations, slivers, cut marks etc. (measured from the surface) with a depth greater than 5% of the specified wall thickness of the pipe is considered unacceptable and no repairs are accepted. 9.10.8 CRACKS (Add-on} Sections of the pipes containing cracks shall be rejected and kept outside at identified place. NCR's (Non Conforming Report) shall be prepared for all such rejected pipes and segregated / stacked separately and kept available fill completion and dispatch of pipes. All the rejected pipes shall be kept at designated location and shall not be disposed off un {ill the order is completed. 9.11 DIMENSIONS, MASS AND TOLERANCES 9.11.3 TOLERANCES FORDIAMETER, WT, LENGTH AND STRAIGHTNESS. 9.11.3,1 DIAMETER & QUT OF ROUNDNESS. PIPE BODY The outside diameter of pipe body shall be checked with snap gauge and same shall not deviate by more than + 2 mm from the specified outside diameter. Table 10 of API SL shall be modified accordingly for all size mentioned in this specification. PIPE ENDS. The diameter, based on circumferential measurement, over a length of 100 mm from the end shall comply with the tolerances specified in Table 10 of API SL. OUT OF ROUNDNESS: Out of roundness at both ends within a width of 100 mm from the ends shall be maximum 2.00 mm. All dimensions shall be measured and recorded. 9.11.3.2 WALL THICKNESS In addition to API requirements, the wall thickness of each pipe shall be checked along the circumference at both ends. Adgifionally, the wall thickness shall be checked at the mid location of pipe body at 12 0" clock, 3.0’ Clock, 6 O clock and 9 ©’ clock positions at least three times per shift. The wall thickness shall comply with the requirements of DATA SHEET and API SL specification The tolerances on wall thickness shall be + 8% and - 0% Note: API 5L Table 11 shall not be applicable GUJARAT GAS CO. Eact pipe shall be measured at both ends for conformance to above requirements. The wall thickness shall be measured and recorded. 9.11.3.3 LENGTH All the pipes shall be supplied with length between 11.5 meter to 12.5 meter (Max) with average length shall be 12.0 meter. Sampling pipe can be acceptable with minimum length of 10.5 meters. " Note: API 5L Table 12 shall not be applicable. 9.11.34 STRAIGHTNESS The deviation from a straight line for all diameters shall not exceed 1.0 mm per meter. Each pipe shall be checked for conformance to above requirements. Straightness shall be measured and recorded at least 3 times per shift. 9.11.3.5 Jointers (Add-on) Jointers on pipes ere not permitted. 9.12 FINISH OF PIPE ENDS 9.12.1 GENERAL Pipes shall be furnished with Bevel ends. 9.12.1.4 QUT OF SQUARENESS, The out of squareness shall be less than equal fo 1.6mm. 9.12.5.2 BEVELING The pipe ends shall be bevelled at an angle 32.5 + 2.5 ° & root face shall be 1.50 + 0.5 mm. No.: GGCLITSISP-ERWIO1 REV-00 (GWARAT GAS, In removing the inside burns at the pipe ends, care shall be taken not fo remove excess metal and not to form an inside cavity or bevel. Removal of excess metal beyond the minimum wall thickness as indicated in para 9.11.3.2 of this specification shall be a cause for cutting and re-bevelling. In case root face of bevel is less than that specified, the pipe end shall be re-bevelled and rectification by filing or grinding shall not be done. BEVEL PROTECTORS (Add-on) Both pipe ends of all pipes shall be provided with metallic or plastic bevel protectors of high impact strength as per Manufacturer's standards. Bevel protectors shall be reusable types. Type of bevel protectors shall be approved by TP. 9.13 TOLERANCES FOR THE WELD SEAM 9.13.1 RADIAL OFFSET OF STRIP/PLATE EDGES. All pipes shall be checked for offset of skelp / plate edges and offset shall be measured ‘and recorded three times per shift. 9.13.2 HEIGHT OF THE FLASH OR WELD BEAD All pipes shall be checked for inside flash height. The flash height shall be maximum +1.52 mm. The wall thickness at groove after Trimming Operation shall not be less than specified minimum walll thickness. 9.16 REVERSE BEND TEST (Add-on) A specimen which fractures completely prior to the specified engagement of mandrel and specimen or which reveals cracks or ruptures in the weld or heat affected zone longer than 4mm shall be rejected. Cracks less than 6 mm long at the edge of the specimen shalll not be case for rejection. 10. INSPECTION In case of any errors / omissions in this specification, OWNER and TPI reserves the right to add / correct the same and it shall be acceptable to the Manufacturer without any additional cost. 10.1.3 INSPECTION DOCUMENTS FOR PSL 2 PIPE The manufacturer shall issue an Inspection Cerificate 3.1 in accordance with EN 10204:2004, GUJARAT GAS CO. HEAT ANALYSIS (Add-on) Where the steel mill is nol a part of integrated pipe mill, the Manufacturer shall report heat analysis to TPI prior to start of production. Technical Service Group Page No.t2 of 20 ®@ SPECIFICATION FOR ERW LINE PIPE Doo, No.: GGCLITSISP-ERWIO1 REV-00 (GWARAT GAS, 10.2.2 SAMPLES AND TEST PIECES FOR PRODUCT ANALYSIS Pipes selected for Product Analysis shall be such that one at the beginning of the heat and one at the end of heat are represented. The frequency shall be as per Table 2 of this specification 10.2.3 SAMPLES AND TEST PIECES FOR MECHANICAL TESTS 10.2.3.2 TEST PIECES FOR THE TENSILE TEST The orientation of tensile test specimen shall be taken from the finished pipe as per Figure 5 of API SL. Hot flattening, artificial ageing or heat treatment of tensile specimen shall not be permitted. Flattening of transverse & weld specimens shall be performed at the room temperature. The frequency shall be as per Table 2 of this specification LONGITUDINAL TENSILE TEST(ADD ON) The longitudinal tensile tests shall be carried out on strip specimen. The frequency shall be as per Table 2 of this specification. This test is not applicable for the pipe size > 8" N.B. TRANSVERSE TENSILE TEST (ADD ON) The transverse tensile tests shall be carried out on flattened rectangular Specimen. The frequency shall be as per Table 2 of this specification.During sampling, the inspection lot shall not contain more than one heat of steel. WELD TENSILE TESTS(ADD ON) The transverse weld specimen taken across the weld after removing the inside and outside flash of weld in excess of pipe material either by grinding or machining shall be tested for ultimate tensile strength only. The frequency shall be as per Table 2 of this specification 10.2.3.3 TEST PIECES FOR THE CVN IMPACT TEST The test pieces shall be prepared in accordance with ASTM A 370 and the required striker radius shall be 2mm.For pipe weld and HAZ test, each test piece shall be elched prior to notching in order to enable proper placement of the notch. 10.2.3.4 TEST PIECES FOR THE DWT TEST The test pieces shall be prepared in accordance with API SL. No.: GGCLITSISP-ERWIO1 REV-00 GUIARAT GAS 10.2.3.7 TEST CES FOR THE FLATIENING TEST Flattening test samples shall be performed shalll be as per Figure 6 of API SL. Heating and integral ageing of test specimen shall noi be permitted. 10.2.3.8 REVERSE BEND TEST (Add-on} Ring Specimen. 100 mm to 115 mm long taken from the pipe shall be reverse bend tested according to the procedure given in 10.2.4.9 and Figure | of this specification. Reverse Bend Test shall be applicable in pipe size above 12"NB and higher. The testing frequency shall Table 2 of this specification. During sampling, the inspection lot shall not contain more than one heat of steel. 10.2.4 TEST METHODS 10.2.4.1 PRODUCT ANALYSIS Product analysis shall be carried out from finished pipes. All the test results of specified cherrical analyses duly approved by TPI shall be fumished to OWNER. 10.2.4.2 TENSILE TEST The tensile test shall be carried out in accordance with Clause no. 10.2.4.2 of API SL. 10.2.4.3 CVN IMPACT TEST The CVN test shall be cartied out in accordance with Clause no. 10.2.3.3 of this specification and 10.2.4.3 of API 5L. 10.2.4.4 DROP-WEIGHT TEAR TEST The DWT test shall be carried out in accordance with Clause no. 10.2.4.4 of API SL. 10.2.4.7 FLATTENING TEST The Flattening test shall be carried out in accordance with Clause no. 10.2.4.7 of API SL. 10.24.8 HARDNESS TEST Hardness tests shall be carried out using portable hardiness test equipments and methods as mentioned in Clause no. 10.2.4.8 of API SL. No: GGCLITSISP-ERWIO1 REV-00 GUARATGAS 10.2.4.9 REVERSE BEND TEST (Add on) The reverse bend test shall be carried out with a mandrel, whose radius (R} or width (A) shall be calculated for any combination of diameter, wall thickness and grade with the following formula. The specimen shall be suitably ground and etched to reveal the macrostructure. The specimen shall be visually examined using adequate magnification to provide evidence that heat ireatment of weld zone is adequate, So that no untempered martensite is left and the fusion line is clearly visible. In case defects are observed, revaluation of welding parameters and heat treatment Procedure shall be finalised by the manufacturer, submitted to TPI for approval, as deemed necessary by OWNER. Vickers hardness test shall be caried out on each specimen taken for macroscopic examination in accordance with ASTM E 92, at locations indicated in figure 2 of this specification. The resulting Vickers hardness value at any point shall not exceed 250 HV 10 (equivalent to 22 HRC). The maximum difference in hardiness between the base material and any reading taken on the weld or heat affected zone shall be less than 80 HY 10. No: GGCLITS/SP-ERWIO1 REV-00 GUIARAT GAS However the manufacturer shall have a option to cary out the Vickers hardness test as per other equivalent ASTM standard which comply the Owner's requirements, in confirmation with TP 10.2. 6 HYDROSTATIC TEST 10.2.6.2 The pressure gauge used for hydrostatic testing shall be calirated with duly calibrated 10.2.7 10.2.8 10.2.8. “Dead Weigh!” tester and the record shall be maintained. Calibration Records including “Dead Weight” tester shall be furnished to TPI on request. Calibration of recording chart shall also be cartied out prior to regular testing and ai the start of the each shift. TEST FLUID ( Add-on) The test fluid / water used in hydrostatic test should have characteristics which shall retard the initiation of corrosion or scaling rate on the pipe surface. The inhibitor shall contin an amine based corrosion inhibitor or an organic sulphite or amine based micro biocide compenent. The inhibitor shall not be toxic and not cause any hazard during disposing and shall behave like any organic surface active agent. The manufacturer shall used appropriate inhibitor or equivalent to reduce the initiation of corrosion as approved by TPI. VISUAL INSPECTION All pipes (100%) shall be visually exomined for any visual defects with an luminance of at least 300 Ix. Inspection shall be over the entire external surface and intemally to the extent possible. DIMENSIONAL TESTING IThe outside diameter of pipe body shall be checked with snap gauge and same shall not deviate by the acceptance criteria given in clause no.9.11.3.1 of this specification. The diameter at pipe ends, based on circumferential measurement, over a length of 100 mm from the end shall permit the passage of a ring gauge that has a bore diameter not larger than the pipes specified outside diameter plus the applicable plus tolerance comply with the tolerances specified in Tabble 10 of API SL. 10.2.8.2 Both ends of every pipe shall be checked for out of roundness using an intemal ring gauge. the external diameter of which shall not be less than: a) (Fipe nominal inside diameter minus 1.6 mm] for pipe sizes $ 273 mm OD; b) (Fipe nominal inside diameter minus 2.4 mm} for pipe sizes 323.9 mm to 457 mm inclusive outside diameter. 10.2.8.4 Local irregularity in profile arising as a result of the forming and welding operations shall be assessed after removol of the weld bead (flash). To facilitate measurements, the centre of the template gauging surface shall have an appropriate shallow cut-out fo accommodate any remains of the weld bead. Local irregularity in profile shall be measured by a calibrated taper gauge inserted in any gap present belween the gauging surface and the pipe surface. The height (depth) of any local imegularity (including any offset of plate edges) shall not be greater than 1 mm for pipes of wall thickness not greater than 9.5 mm, or 1.5 mm for pipes of greater than 9.5 mm wall thickness. WEIGHING For pipe with D>= 141.3mm the lengths of pipe shall be weighed individually. 10.2.12 RETESTING WW 12 1.2.1 Modalities or recheck analysis shall be as per API Spec. SL as applicable fo the lot being tested. However, during individual testing each pipe shall be fully analysed to meet the requirements of clause 9.2.1 table 1. MARKING. PIPE MARKINGS Marking as per API SL and otherwise specified in the Purchase Order shall be in English language and Intemational System (SI) unis. Marking shall also include API monogram, Purchaser Order Number, pipe number, heat number, walll thickness (mm) and weight. Outside Diameter and wall thickness marking shall be according to API 5L, However, the actual data shall also be supplied in the form of track record. GUJARAT GAS CO. LTD. Tochnical Service Group Page No.7 of 30 ® 11.2.2. Marking shall be paint stencilled on each length of the pipe at right angles to the pipe axis approximately 200 mm from both ends. Stencil marking shall be placed on the inside surface of each length. Sequence of marking shall be as per API SL. 11.23 Additiorally the pipe number shall be placed by paint stencil on the outside surface of the pipe, at an approx. distance of 50 mm on one or both end, Alternative marking scheme of @ permanent nature may be proposed by Manufactured at bidding stage, Cold die stamping shall not be permitted on the pipe body, 11.2.6 Actual length shall be marked in meters. 11.2.7 Grade and Colour code band on inside surface of finished pipe shall be morked as per API Spec. 5L. The colour band for identification of pipes, as per Table 27 of API SL, shall be 50 mm wide and shall be marked at a distance of 150 mm from the pipe ends, 11.28 Pipe Number (Add- On} Pipe number, which has been given during the manufacturing process, shall be marked on each pipe. 12 COATING AND THREAD PROTECTORS 12.1 Coating and Lining The pipes shall be delivered bare, free of any trace of oi, stain, grease and paint. Anti corrosion paint shall be applied to prevent rust / scaling on pipe body as per instruction of TPI. Bevels shall be free from any coating. Altemative scheme to prevent pipe body from rust / scaling may be proposed by Manufacturer at bidding stage and shall be applied as per the instruction of TPI. 12.3. STACKING (Add-on) In case of delay in despatch of final accepted pipes, stacking of line pipes shall be done as specified below: * Stacking bed shall be prepared with a height of 0.3 mtr. from Ground Level. * Stacked pipes shall have a little inclination so that rainwater shall flow from other end easly. Pipe shall be stacked to a maximum height of 1500 mm or as agreed by TPI. * All rejected pipes shall be identified with colour band & shall be stacked separately and as per instruction of TP! & shall be hold fill completion and dispatch of entire pipe quantity. The manufacturer shall retain the records indicated in API SL para 13 and the records of all additional test and shall be made available to OWNER on request up to a period of 5 year from ihe date of purchase. 13.1 PRODUCTION REPORT (Add-on) The manufacturer shall provide a production report in five copies indicating atleast the following for each pipe: Pipe identification number Heat number form which pipe is produced. Pipe length and weight Pipe grade. The manufacturer shalll provide five copies of acceptance cerfifications which shall include the results of all tests required os per this specification and performed on delivered material of giving details, but not limited to the following: All est certificates mentioned in clause 13. Histogram for tensile tests indicating minimum, maximum, average and standard deviation. Data shall be provided for dimensional parameters & chemical analysis. Certified reports of dimensional measurements / tolerance. Information on test failures, repairs, welds rejected heats etc. Information on production and shipping. All other reports and results required as per this specification. Such documents shall indicate pipe identification number, the orientation of each individual test specimen, etc. and shall be written in English only Intemational system of Units (SI) shall be adopted. The cerlificates shall be valid only when signed by the IPI represented by OWNER and only those pipes which have been certified by the TP! shall be dispatched from the pipe mill. 13.2 LINE PIPE TRACK DATA (ADD-ON) The LINE PIPE data shall be provided in the form of Windows 7 Access in Compact Disc (CD - ROM). The specific data to be recorded shall be include but not limited to the following: All marking information; Date of steel and pipe manufacture; All mechanical properties from test results including hydrostatic test graph; All dimensional records; Final inspection and release date; Description and disposition of defect; GUJARAT GAS CO. The loading shall be designed to prevent end damage, abrasion, penning and fatigue cracking. The same shall be reviewed ond approved by TP before commencement of actual loading. Provision should be made to protect the pipe, bevels, corrosion and coating from damage during any transportation (highway , rail and/or water } of line pipe. Any line pipe fo be transported by rail road , inland waterway , or by marine transportation , shall be loaded and transported , shall be loaded and transported in accordance with ‘APLRPSLI or API RP SLW. INSPECTION OF FIELD TEST AND WARRANTY (Add-on) OWNER shall be reimbursed from Manufacturer for any pipe furnished on this order that fails under feld hydrostatic test, if such failure is caused by a material / manufacturing defect in the pipe. The reimbursement cost shall include pipe, labour and equipment rental for finding, excavating, cutting out and installation of replaced pipe in position including idle charges for such period for replacement. The value of hoop stress developed due to hydrostatic test pressure shall noi be exceeded 90 % of the specified minimum yield strength. In case manufacturer so desires, he will be advised at least two weeks in advance so that his representative may witness the hydrostatic test in field. However the testing and leak (if any) finding and repair operation shall not be postponed because of absence of the manufacturer's representative. REJECTION (Add- on) if OWNER representative or TP! represented by OWNER rejects pipes repeatedly for any recurting cause, this shall be adequate reason to refuse final inspection of subsequent pipes until he cause has been investigated and corrective action taken. FIRST DAY PRODUCTION TESTS (Add-on) The first day production tests / Production Qualification shall be decided by TP! deployed by OWNER or in other case the following minimum requirements shall be fulfiled. The first day production tests shall be carried out on each grade and size of pipes for conformation of product and continuation of regular pipe production. Two lengths each of completely finished pipes of first day's production shall be selected at random for testing to verify that he manufacturing procedure results in the quality of pipes which are in complete compliance with this specification. The pipes thus tested shall be Considered to be the test pipes required per heat or per lot as per relevant clauses of this specification. These first day production tests shall be repeated upon any change in the manufacturing procedure as deemed necessary by TP. The manufacturer shall submit to OWNER a report giving the results of all tests mentioned below: The report shall be agreed and signed by TP! prior fo star! or regular production. Note: In the event of small quantities of pipes ordered against this specification, like those for bends and other similar applications, as specially called out in the purchaser order the first day production test shall not be carried out. Pipes in such case shall be accepted based on regular production tests. The various tests to be conducted on each pipe shall be as follows. The test method ond acceptance values shall be as per this specification unless specified differently. VISUAL EXAMINATION All pipes shall be examined visually for dimensional tolerances and apparent surface defects. © NON-DESTRUCTIVE TESTING The weld seam of all pipes shall be examined 100% ultrasonically.100% surface area of the plat/body of the pipe shall be subjected to U.T. * MECHANICAL PROPERTIES * The mechanical properties of all pipes shall be tested and shall meet the requirements of the relevant sections of this specification. Two specimens shall be taken one from weld and another from base metal at 90° away from weld. The approved manufacturing procedure shall be siricily followed in all phases of the production of pipes. B.3 Characteristics of the manufacturing procedure '* Steel / skelp maker and plant at which steel is produces. * Steel making process with details of secondary refining process and continuous casting process, nominal weight of each heat. * Target chemistry, range of intentionally added elements, limits on heat and product analysis to be placed on steel maker. «kelp rolling procedure-indicating number of passes, their temperature and thickness reduction in each pass required by Controlled Rolling Procedure and the finishing temperature. * Hear treatment procedure documents established as per para 8.12 of this specification. * Ultresonic testing of skelp or pipes shall be recorded by using automatic and manual equipment including details of equipment, techniques, scanning pattem, probe frequency, scanning sensitivity, reference standard for calibration, dynamic calibration procedure, method of marking defects. * Pipe making procedure including skelp edge preparation, forming and any other special process proposed. E.1 QUALIFICATION OF PERSONNEL All personnel performing Non Destructive Testing (NDT) activities shall be qualified in the technique applied in accordance with SO 11484 or ASNT-TC-1A or equivalent. For UT at least one personnel level ill qualified inspector shall be available to the mill for overall supervision. A level Il inspector is required for shift supervision, manual weld inspection and calibration of all systems (both manual and automated). A level | inspector is acceptable for all other NDT methods. A level Il inspector is acceptable for supervision of all other NDT methods. All NDT shall be performed in acceptance with written procedures. These procedures shall have prior approval of the TPI. E.3 METHODS OF INSPECTION E.3.1 GENERAL Weld Inspection The 100 % length of weld seam shall be examined by continuous & uninterrupted automatic testing method which may be carried out by using automatic ultrasonic method as per API SL and as modified in this specification Skelp Inspection The entire Skelp surface shall be ultrasonically inspected for lamination along parallel lines. 100% AUT coverage is mandatory either at beginning of pipe forming or 100% Auto UT coverage shall be performed on the finished pipe at option of the manufacturer. During 100% UT ony defect noticed in continuous two pipe lengths, then immediately forming shall be stopped and defective coil shall be segregated for further investigation. Location showing above indications, the allowable limits may be re-examined by manual ullrasonic method. If no defects are located during re-examination, the original findings may be ignored. Additional scanning may be requested by TPi to check questionable creas, GUJARAT GAS CO. LTD. Tochnical Service Group Page No.25 of 30 SPECIFICATION FORERWLINE PIPE Dec. No: GGCLITSISP-ERWIO1 REV-00 GUUARAT GAS, 3.2 PIPE END INSPECTION- WELDED PIPE The full circumference of both ends of each pipe after beveling shall be 100% ultrasonically tested for laminations over a circumferential band of at least 25mm width. In ‘addition, full circumference of both ends of each pipe shall be 100 % ultrasonically tested ‘over a circumferential width of at least 100mm with angular probes to detect cracks. In case of non-availability of angular probes at the mill, he full circumference of both ends of each pipe shall be inspected with magnetic particle technique to a circumferential width of at least 50mm to detect surface cracks. BEVEL INSPECTION (Add-on) Bevel face of all pipes shall be inspected by magnetic particle method to detect cracks. Residual magnetism shall not exceed 20 gauss measured by Hall Effect Gauss Meter. The frequency of testing shall be 10 times per heat on random basis. E.5 ULTRASONIC & ELECTROMAGNETIC INSPECTION E.5.1 EQUIPMENT All automatic ultrasonic equipment shall be adjusted in such a way that it shall define the defectve zone by well indication like alarm device, spray paint etc. The reference hole shall be scanned by the inspection unit in a manner stimulating to the inspection of the product and shall be capable of inspecting N10 Notch on each side of the weld line (as shown in figure 3 for the entire wall thickness. Also it shall be capable of inspecting through the entire thickness of the weld line plus 1.6 mm of adjacent parent metal on each side of the weld line. Continuous monitor and effectiveness the equipment for the automatic inspection shall allow the localisation of longitudinal defects comesponding to the signal ‘exceed the acceptance limit of the reference standard. The equipment shall be fitted with ‘automatic marking (Commercial paint spray) device for areas giving ultrasonic indications which may be carried out by using electro-magnetic principle. All non- destructive testing equipment shall be provided with recording device. E 5.2 ULTRASONIC AND ELECTROMAGNETIC INSPECTION REFERENCE STANDARDS The reference (calibration) pipe shall have the same specified diameter and wall thickness ‘as the pipe being inspected and shall have sufficient length to permit calibration of non- destructive inspection equipment at speed to be used in normal production. the reference (calibration) pipe shall also be of the same material, size, type and have the same surface finish and heat treatment as the pipe being inspected. The location, size and number of notch shall be as per figure 3 and given below. * _NlOnotch shall be drilled on parallel and either side of the weld centre line. The location of both the holes shall be minimum 2 mm away from the weld centre line. [GUJARAT GAS CO. LTD. Every lime the running of the system gives tise to doubts on ifs efficiency, ©. Calibration shall be carried out at least twice per working shift of 8 hrs and ot all the intermediate breakdowns (at the intervals not less than fwo hours) made during the tegular production * If during the above calibration verification, if it is found that the equipment hos not functioned satisfactorily in the opinion of the TPI, all the pipes or skelp already inspected after the previous verification shall be inspected again at Manufacturer's cost. * Type of calibration shall be decided by TPI in cose of system failure. * In case of continues occurrence of signals outside the acceptance limits, in oreas where upon subsequent investigation, no defecis are detected. Further investigations Using other methods shall be executed to establish the cause of these erratic signals. E5.4 RECORDS VERIFYING SYSTEM CAPABILITY Manufacturer shall maintain NDE system records as per the requirements of E.5.4.1 & E.5.4.2 of API SL 44!"
