5 Basic Troubleshooting
Candidates troubleshoot basic software and hardware problems common in digital
learning environments. (PSC 3.5/ISTE 3e)
Artifact: Internet Lesson Plan
Reflection:
The lesson plan project was completed for ITEC 7430. This project required the
students to complete a unit for review using applications from the web. They then
had to present the information using Movie Maker or some other applicable
software. The reflection included discusses how this artifact meets this standard.
For this lesson the students would be given a unit from the semester. The idea was
for them to design a movie for a review for the EOC and final exam. Students will
work collaboratively together and share ideas on how to implement an innovative
way to review the material. At the end, they had to complete a survey to reflect on
the pros and cons of the project. This was the first time my students created
videos. I had to learn to troubleshoot issues as they arose. Most of the students
had worked with creating videos in their English class but never for math. So not
only was the content a new approach so was using it in a math class. My first
encounter was having difficulty for the students to use all the math symbols in the
video. I had to troubleshoot and find a way to upload the information. Math type
worked the best and was the easiest to use. We worked through the different
problems together. The students did a good job in working collaboratively together
and brainstorming to come up with their own solutions.
From completing this artifact, I learned the importance of knowing how to identify
areas were troubleshooting might be necessary before implementing the project. If
I had to do this project again, I would teach my students how to privately upload
their finished videos to You Tube so they could share these educational videos, while
ensuring their privacy is maintained.
This artifact had a positive impact on student learning because students learned
how technology could enhance a project that met content and technology
standards. This project helped the students achieve mastery of the EOC and was a
great example of how students can exceed my expectations.
