Huckleberry Finn Interview

Q. Huck, a lot of adults in St. Petersburg dont like when the other children talk and play with
you. Why do you think that is?
A. Why, I dare say that those grown-ups dont know what theyre talking about. Just because I
dont keep myself neat and tidy doesnt mean Im some kind of animal!
Q. You and Tom Sawyer had the unfortunate experience of witnessing the murder of Dr.
Robinson. How was that?
A. Oh, just horrible! Me and Tom started out of there faster than the next beat of our hearts! Ive
never been more frightened.
Q. It seems that you and all your friends love to play games. Which game is your favorite to
play?
A. Well, I dont often remember the names of the games we play. A lot of them are about things
that the other boys read about in literachur. But Robin Hood is fun.
Q. What do you plan on doing in the future? Do you have any plans, now that you found wealth
in Injun Joes treasure?
A. Well, keep mum about it, but me and Tom Sawyer plan on going off and being robbers! Tom
knows lots about them. Itll surely be great fun!
Q. Once you and Tom found Injun Joes treasure, how did the town of St. Petersburg react?
Was anyone envious of your riches?
A. Oh, I imagine so. I know I would! But Widow Douglas and Toms Aunt Polly keep all the gold
safe from us, so we arent often seen flaunting it.
