This lesson connected to an ongoing unit of study ~ Summer Olympics 2016, country of study - Spain. Ms Baron displays solid knowledge of the important concepts about Spain and its culture. Ms Baron demonstrates accurate understanding knowledge of Spain’s architecture and landmarks. Te - Designing coherent instruction x Evidence: Ms Baron uses the Workshop Model for Lesson planning. It included CCLS/ CDOS/ NYSAA and SEL standards. ‘This lesson was a part of a unit of study on Spain, Ms Baron employed the TEACCH methodology. Ms Baron's lesson plan was differentiated with IEP goals, student to student interaction, assessment and homework. Ms Baron clearly posted her Teaching point: How can we learn about famous architecture in Spain? How can we relate a mosaic that represents Gaudi architecture? 2a - Creating an environment of respect and rapport x Evidence: Ms Baron utilizes the TEACCH / Structured learning ‘methodology. Ms Baron uses Visual schedules with First-Then instructions. Students understand the rules and routines. Ms Baron has developed a rapport with her students. Each student understands what is expected of them. 2d - Managing student behavior x Evidence: Ms Baron uses the SWPBIS. Ms Baron uses verbal praise and prompts to reinforce appropriate behaviors.
