3b - Using questioning and discussion techniques Evidence: Ms Baron promotes peers to peer discussion and interaction. Students were in three different groups. Ms Baron moved from each tier supporting and facilitating students as they completed researching architecture, landmarks and architects Ms Latorre supported Francisco, John, Emelin. Students were matching pictures to complete graphic organizer for; Who are famous architects of Spain? What city has the most famous architecture? What are some famous landmarks in this city? How can you describe them? Ms Baron worked with Christian, Raygene, Paula and Wendy. Students using iPad and laptops to research topic - country of study 2016 Olympics — Spain. Who are famous architects of Spain? What city has the most famous architecture? What are some famous landmarks in this city? How can you describe them? Alejandro and Amanda - Students completed graphic organizer for Landmark name, City location, Type of landmark, Describe the landmark 3c - Engaging students in learning Evidence: Ms Baron incorporated technology (SMARTboard, laptops, iPad). Ms Latorre supported one group of students as Ms Baron moved between each group facilitating and supporting students and they completed their research. Next steps ensure you have vocabulary terms with pictures clearly posted (cathedral, architect, architecture, mosaic, castle, city, landmark, Gaudi); additionally ensure these terms are posted clearly on the Word Wall. 3d - Using assessment in instruction Evidence: Ms Baron uses data collection sheets to assess students’ performance. Additionally Ms Baron has students complete exit slip as self- assessment- Name three important things you learned from today's lesson 4e - Growing and reflecting on teaching Evidence: I met with Ms Baron on Friday July 31%, 2015. Ms Baron stated she would like to further develop better assessment strategies /tools to assess student learning. Additionally Ms Baron is interested in learning about teaching new populations of students. Ms Baron would like to improve question and discussion techniques to ask less- literal question and improve student comprehension/ Ms Baron is interested in the Saturday Advance Academy and additional professional development opportunities.
