Essential Question(s): Can students identify the most frequently occurring prepositions with and without prompts? Instructional Objective(s): Students will identify common prepositions given to them. Students will dictate common prepositions. Formative Assessment: Informal observation during small group instruction. Summative Assessment: Collection of student work at centers and Fun Friday review of skills taught during small group. II. LESSON BODY INTRODUCTION: Begin with what prepositions are and connect prepositions to the morning video they watch daily. TEACHING PROCEDURES: Blue Group Center: Students will complete the Prepositions at School worksheet. SG: Teacher will explain what prepositions are and how to identify them. Using Pick a Preposition worksheet inside document protectors. Teacher will have students dictate and write prepositions. Green Group Center: Students will complete the Prepositions on the Farm worksheet. SG: Students will work on letter sounds using Beginning Sound Puncher cards. Each student will be given a card of a different letter. They will cross out the letter using a dry erase marker. Then students will say the sound and a word that uses that sound. If time allows switch cards and repeat.
Yellow Group Center: Students will complete the Prepositions on the
Farm worksheet. SG: Teacher will explain what prepositions are and how to identify them. Using Pick A Preposition worksheet inside document protectors and dry erase markers. Lets Write Center: Students will copy sentences from the Writing Sentences from Prepositions sheet. Students will attend to capitalization and punctuation in the sentences. Sight Word Center: Rainbow Write/Color sight words. Students will roll a die, each number corresponds to a color to write the sight words on their paper. CLOSURE: Review with the students what prepositions are, and how they are used in sentences. III. LESSON ESSENTIALS DIFFERENTIATED LEARNING ACTIVITIES: This lesson plan is modified by levels for the grouped students. Technology can be added to any of the lesson to help with engagement.
