INTRODUCTION
An oil refinery is an industrial process plant where crude oil is
processed and refined into more useful petroleum products, such as
gasoline, diesel fuel, asphalt base, heating oil, kerosene, and liquefied
petroleum gas.
Within this presentation I will emphasize the graphic BPMN process of
Petromida(rompetrol) oil refinery processing plant, will propose solution
to certain issues.

SITUATION ANALYSIS

Rompetrol is a top Romanian oil refinery corporation that operates

in the black sea.
Its biggest oil refinery plant Petromidia is located in Nvodari,
Constana County, and has an annual processing capacity of 4.8
million tonnes/year or 100,000 bbl/d (16,000 m3/d).
The refinery is supplied with oil thru an oil terminal located in the
Port of Midia that can accommodate ships up to 24,000 DWT or by a
pipeline of 40 kilometres (25 mi) which has a terminus in the Port of
Constana

PROBLEM

According to the latest analysis of

Petromidia plant doesnt take full
advantage of residual oils, that could
be used for wax, lubricating oil,
paraffin or bitumen.
Petromidia plant uses it as a mere
asphalt product with a deficiency rate
of 35% which is an inefficient way to
use the full potential of the refining
process that slows down the profits.

AIM OF THE RESEARCH

To understand if the deficiency rate of processing residual
oils could be reduced and the processing consecutivity
system improved in order to use Petromidas full potential
in order to increase efficiency and profits for Rompetrol
group.

BPMN MODEL

CONCLUSION
As a result of research and improvement plan, Rompterols Petromidia Oil
refinery plant has increased in production and processing residual oils by
20%, therefore decreasing the deficiency rate and improving profits as the
prices for was, bitumen, asphalt have recently risen up.
